Star Wars: Andor Reportedly Continues Filming on Large Production Set

The future of Star Wars is bright, and this was mainly because of the dominance of The Mandalorian on Disney+. The Jon Favreau-created show essentially propelled the streaming branch of the galaxy far, far, away, ultimately adding more hype to upcoming projects that will soon debut on the platform.

One of the shows that will arrive is a prequel to 2016's Rogue One, which is Andor. The series will see the return of Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, and he will also be joined by an all-star cast led by Alan Tudyk's fan-favorite droid named K-2SO and Genevieve O'Reilly's Mon Mothma.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but it was confirmed during the official announcement that the Disney+ show is a “rousing spy thriller.” During Disney Investor Day 2020, a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel showcased Andor's hardworking crew while also confirming their production timeline.

It was revealed then that filming began last November, with the show aiming to catch a 2022 release date. Now, an exciting update about the production of Andor has arrived.

RUMOR

Bespin Bulletin shared that Andor already resumed filming at Pinewood Studios in London. The outlet also revealed that the Disney+ series was shooting scenes in another location in the United Kingdom and it was pointed out that the set that is being used is “pretty darn big.”

WHAT THIS MEANS

It's good to know that filming for Andor is going well in London, especially after the report that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had to temporarily halt filming due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country. Given that, it's safe to say that stricter health protocols are enforced within the confines of Andor's location, meaning that the cast and crew are very much cautious to not contract the virus.

Andor is one of the unique entries of Star Wars in terms of tone and story since it will give fans an opportunity to learn more about the Rebellion before Luke Skywalker's triumphant arrival in the scene. It's also no secret that Andor is set within the Empire's reign of terror in the galaxy, and there's a strong chance that Cassian will have numerous battles with them throughout the show's recently-confirmed 12-episode run

By connecting the dots, the description of a “pretty darn big” set-piece should indicate that the “daring missions” that were teased in the show's official synopsis will likely involve giant ships and action-packed battle sequences to entice fans. On the flip side, it could also mean that Andor will reveal the origins of several Rebel bases that are scattered throughout the galaxy, and this huge set-piece could allude to that.

Whatever the case, all will be officially revealed when Andor premieres on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
