Star Wars: Daisy Ridley Reflects on Tear-Filled Last Day of The Rise of Skywalker Filming

Rey Rise of Skywalker

In the time following The Rise of Skywalker's theatrical release, members of the cast have openly shared their thoughts and experiences filming Disney's sequel trilogy.  Actors Oscar Isaac, and particularly John Boyega, have voiced their frustrations and apparent lack of future interest in returning to that galaxy far, far away in the future.

Daisy Ridley has even shared her difficulties in finding new projects in the wake of the Skywalker Saga's conclusion. However, despite the issues the cast may have had with Disney and Lucasfilm and having been attached to such a major franchise, those issues didn't seem to exist between members of the cast.

DAISY RIDLEY TALKS ABOUT THE EMOTIONAL LAST DAY OF FILMING

In an interview with PEOPLE, Daisy Ridley discussed how emotional the end of filming was for her saying, "When we wrapped [The Rise of Skywalker] I wept all day. I felt like I was going to pop a vein because I was crying so much."

Unlike most films, the cast of Disney's Sequel Trilogy were together for years filming and promoting The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. Having that journey finally come to an end wasn't just the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, but also a significant chapter in their own lives.

Ridley continued by saying, "Obviously not to say that it was like grieving, but it was grieving something. I'll always have it, and we're all bonded by this incredible thing."

THE END OF AN ERA

In addition to their chemistry on screen, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage has shown how the cast truly got along in the creation of these films; they were friends behind the camera as well as in front of it. Having spent so much time together before the saga to an end was understandably emotional.

Additionally, it's one thing to have made three films in succession; it's another thing altogether to be part of a Star Wars trilogy. While, as Ridley said, it was surely an incredible thing, the fan scrutiny and media attention surely created a bond between the cast that's rare in regard to other films.
