Marvel Studios Will Reportedly Only Showcase One Trailer at Super Bowl
Considering the ongoing pandemic and constant changes in releases and productions, it's actually quite ill-advised to be releasing such expensive marketing for a product that could easily be delayed.
That hasn't stopped fans from speculating about the possibility of companies advertising their digital releases, such as Zack Snyder's Justice League, and whether Warner Bros. will fork over the money to buy a TV spot at the Super Bowl.
As for Marvel Studios, fans have also taken some swings at what might be pushed at the event, with more unlikely guesses being Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings or Eternals. However, a later report from Deadline indicated that, unsurprisingly, Disney would be conservative with the TV spots at the sports event, saying that they would only have “two to four trailers.”
A new leak points to this being the case with Marvel Studios having at least one spot of their own.
ONLY ONE TV SPOT FOR DISNEY+ SHOW
According to a leaker on Reddit, who subsequently gave evidence of his claim to moderators, Marvel Studios will only have one trailer at the Super Bowl in the second break of the first quarter. This will come in the form of a 30-second TV spot for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Additionally, there will be another 30-second TV spot for “Disney+” in the fourth quarter, which could still contain some Marvel Studios content for other shows like Loki (set to debut in May).
NO BENEFIT HAVING MORE
30-second TV spots at the Super Bowl are costly, with prices reaching upwards of $5.6 million. It isn't a surprise that fans won't be seeing another TV spot for Black Widow or any other film Marvel Studios has finished, as there's still the possibility they could be pushed back again, rendering this investment worthless.
On the other hand, the release of their Disney+ content is more assured, as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to release in March shortly after WandaVision has concluded. Not to mention that the sizzle reel for Disney+ could still include footage from multiple Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm-producted shows, allowing the House of Mouse to display what it has on offer for the streaming service.
