MCU: Spider-Man 3 Casting Teases Military Presence

Even as Marvel Studios brings the epic ending to its first Phase 4 entry in WandaVision, the team behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe still has nine more entries to add to the overarching story this year. In terms of hype and anticipation, almost no project in all of Phase 4 has fans more excited than the newly-titled Spider-Man: No Way Home.

This story is set to expand on the MCU's multiverse with Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange joining Peter Parker, and the two are likely to face a hoard of past Spider-Man movie villains like Jamie Foxx's Electro and Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus. On top of this, Peter will still have issues from his last movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home, to deal with after his identity was revealed to the world.

In light of that troubling event, a new casting announcement might be adding some depth to this sub-plot of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME INCLUDING THE MILITARY?

In a new Facebook post from Catrett-Locke Casting, a cast listing for "The November Project" is looking for "real/experienced Cops, current/former Military, ages 18-60s."

"The November Project" is well known to be one of the working titles for Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man: No Way Home.

SPIDEY FACING EVEN MORE LAW ENFORCEMENT?

This is quite an interesting casting call, even considering how many personalities will be included in this massive solo film for the web-slinger.

With Spider-Man's secret identity no longer a secret after Spider-Man: Far From Home, it seems as though there will be a host of local and national officials on the lookout for New York City's young protector. If the search for Spidey ends up involving a full-blown military presence, then that story could be even more pivotal to the plot of the Spider-Man threequel than originally anticipated.

On the other hand, this could also mean that the armed forces will be needed for what ultimately becomes the final battle of this epic adventure. With more than a handful of past Spidey villains rumored to be taking their shot at Tom Holland's MCU wall-crawler, Peter Parker may end up needing all the help he can get to take them down outside Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of the character.

No matter what this casting call means, it only adds to one of the most expansive casts in any MCU movie to date. Now that fans have the movie's title to salivate over, the wait begins for more plot details to reveal themselves along with an eventual trailer once filming is closer to finishing.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will premiere in theaters on December 17, 2021.
