Thor 4: Chris Hemsworth Set Photo Reveals Mystical Goat With MCU Hero

Thor: Love and Thunder has finally started filming, following months of past MCU actors arriving in Australia to star alongside the God of Thunder.

In addition to several members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Lady Sif's Jaimie Alexander landed in Sydney after being absent from the previous Thor installment. Even Jurassic Park's Sam Neill teased a potential return for Love and Thunder after starring alongside Matt Damon in a cameo for Thor: Ragnarok.

With an Avengers-level cast of characters, director Taika Waititi has been given some consulting help from another Marvel creative in Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn.

Recent set photos gave fans their first sneak peek at Thor 4's behind-the-scenes, which revealed brand-new outfits for Thor and Star-Lord. Other images from the film's production have hinted at some furry companions that will aid the God of Thunder in his fourth solo outing...

THOR'S MYSTICAL GOATS

Shared by Twitter user @bukitan64, originally via The Daily Mail, a set photo from Thor: Love and Thunder revealed a goat on the film's production that could either be Toothgnasher or Toothgrinder from the comics.

These mystical goats are based on Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr from Norse mythology, being the animals that pull Thor's chariot.

FURRY FRIENDS IN LOVE AND THUNDER

The presence of Thor's pets should indicate that Thor: Love and Thunder will be just as, if not more, weird and wacky as its previous installment. Thor: Ragnarok leaned into many of the vibrant and bizarre concepts from the Thor mythos, so director Taika Waititi seems to be doing the same this time around.

With there only being one goat visible in this image, this could point to two possibilities. The pictured goat could be one of a pair like the comics, with the other animal companion somewhere else on set. Alternatively, perhaps Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder have been consolidated into one beast.

Whatever the case, a goat on set suggests that a chariot isn't too far behind. It is unknown in what fashion Thor will come into possession of this vehicle, but it should make for an interesting set piece if anything.

How Thor's mystical goats come into play will be revealed when Thor: Love and Thunder releases in theaters on May 6, 2022.
