Tom Holland's Spider-Man 3 Reportedly Casts Arian Moayed as Detective Character

For everything coming from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2021, the most highly-anticipated project might be Marvel Studios' final release of the year with Spider-Man 3. This movie may not have a title yet, but it does boast one of the most expansive casts in MCU history thanks to the high likelihood of the MCU multiverse coming into play.

There are reports circling the arrival of both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's web-slingers as they team up with Tom Holland's Peter Parker to take down more than a handful of classic Spidey movie villains. Alongside all of this multiversal madness will be Peter's core team of friends and family as they help him deal with his toughest challenges yet.

Reports are confirming yet another addition to this movie, one who should play an intriguing role in the midst of this massive adventure.

ARIAN MOAYED JOINS THE CAST OF SPIDER-MAN 3

Murphy's Multiverse recently revealed that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have cast Iranian-American actor Arian Moayed as an unnamed detective in the untitled Spider-Man 3. The article also says that Moayed has already filmed some of his scenes for the Phase 4 movie.

DETECTIVES ON THE HUNT FOR PETER PARKER?

This casting likely ties back to a casting exclusive from the Illuminerdi from December 2020 that spoke of a call for an unnamed detective role, for which the studios were looking for a BIPOC in a fluid age range. While neither of these reports reveals who exactly the character is, Moayed appears to be set to fill this slot and play a potentially interesting role in this massive blockbuster.

One of the sub-plots of Spider-Man 3 will pick up directly from the end of 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home when J. Jonah Jameson revealed that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, framing him for the murder of Mysterio. This detective will most likely be on the hunt for the web-slinger to try to bring him to justice, although Peter clearly has much bigger problems on his sticky hands to deal with.

With so little known about the plot of Spider-Man 3, it will be interesting to find out just how much Moayed's role plays into the story. No matter what those answers are, he should make an excellent addition to a cast that features some of the biggest names in the wall-crawler's cinematic history.

Spider-Man 3 is currently filming and will release in theaters on December 17, 2021.
