WandaVision Features Iconic Pixar Easter Egg In New Episode
This article contains spoilers for WandaVision.
Every week of Marvel Studios' WandaVision has found a way to bring unexpected thrills and surprises, all while telling a fascinating story at the same time. Through the titular couple's life in Westview and the investigation by S.W.O.R.D. into what's happening in Wanda's bubble, Marvel fans are getting more than their fair share of entertainment value right as Phase 4 kicks off.
Among the craziness on the surface are Marvel's usual sprinklings of Easter Eggs. Some of them have played a key part in the plot, like the retro S.W.O.R.D. drone turning into a helicopter, while others simply show a bit of character development, like Agent Jimmy Woo finally learning the card trick he's worked on for over five years.
The latest Easter Egg hunt even revealed one that has no direct ties to Marvel whatsoever, but still brings a smile to faces worldwide.
MARVEL STUDIOS AND PIXAR COLLIDE
In "Episode 5" of WandaVision on Disney+, fans have discovered a new Pixar-themed Easter egg. When S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward and FBI Agent Jimmy Woo utilize a video presentation during their briefing to refresh their team on Wanda Maximoff's history in the MCU, in the presentation is the phrase "A113 DATA," which is a reference to the famed animation studio.
TO INFINITY (SAGA) AND BEYOND!
To get into details, Pixar Studios has used A113 in some shape or form in all 23 of their movies. This is a reference to the specific classroom at the California Institute of the Arts where many of Pixar's top names such as John Lassetter (Toy Story), Brad Bird (The Incredibles), and others got their start in animated films.
It started off with Andy's mom's minivan in 1995's Toy Story and has continued ever since. Other examples include Syndrome's chamber for Mr. Incredible in The Incredibles and a number on the underwater camera in Finding Nemo. This number was even thrown into a previous MCU movie when it was used as a file number for the last of the Battle of New York footage at the end of 2012's The Avengers.
The fact that Disney owns both Marvel and Pixar Studios certainly opens the doors for incredible Easter Eggs like this one, connecting franchises that exist in completely separate universes. Eagle-eyed fans are getting a great treat out of this hidden tribute to Pixar, and hopefully, Marvel will find a way to throw in more of these as Phase 4 continues. Maybe an old Woody or Buzz Lightyear action figure alongside a Captain Marvel figurine in Ms. Marvel? The possibilities are endless.
WandaVision, and the ensuing Easter Egg hunt, will continue on Disney+ when "Episode 6" premieres on Friday, February 12.
