Zack Snyder's Justice League Reshoots Only Lasted 3 Days
The long-awaited debut of the Snyder Cut of Justice League is finally only a few weeks away, meaning the promotional tour is kicking into high gear. Director Zack Snyder has been quite open about teasing what’s coming in this cut for most of the past year as he works to build up anticipation for a project more than three years in the making.
Over the weekend, the likely-final trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League released, teasing new footage and action that will come in this four-hour movie. This includes the first look at Jared Leto’s Joker in footage that was shot in the widely reported week-long reshoots for the Snyder Cut in late 2020.
While news has been varied on how much work actually went into these reshoots, a little more clarification came on the details from one of the film’s higher-ups.
THE TRUTH OF THE SNYDER CUT RESHOOTS
In a recent appearance on the LightCast Podcast, producer Deborah Snyder revealed that production only shot “literally one scene” for "three days" during the October 2020 additional filming for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. This tacked-on production was later confirmed to have been for a 4-minute scene involving a Knightmare sequence with Ben Affleck's Batman, Jared Leto's Joker, Amber Heard's Mera, Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke, and possibly a few others
“People kept thinking ‘Oh, they went and shot so much more stuff.’ And I go ‘We literally shot one scene, like one additional scene. I shot three days here. That’s it. That’s what we captured."

NOT AS MUCH NEW MATERIAL AS EXPECTED
Rumors have been widely varied concerning what is actually happening with Zack Snyder’s Justice League, including the stories of its production over the past few months. When news broke that reshoots for the movie were taking place at the end of last year, it certainly sent the fan base into a frenzy thinking of what needed to be captured on film.
With this movie being twice as long as the 2017 theatrical cut, it’s difficult to pin down specifics on what will comprise the plot, especially considering the differences from its predecessor. Even taking into account how open Zack Snyder has been with information on this new cut, it will be interesting to find out the full details on what will help bring his vision of the movie to life.
In terms of the reshoots specifically, it seems as though most of it was used to bring the DCEU's Joker into the movie alongside Batman, Superman and the rest of the heroic team. How he fits into the action is still a mystery, although Snyder and Leto both appeared to have had plenty of excitement working together to bring this story to life.
All will be revealed when Zack Snyder's Justice League makes its debut on HBO Max on March 18, 2021.
