Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam: Leaked Set Photos Tease Intergalactic Setting
After years of being stuck in the development phase, Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam is finally moving along at Warner Bros. The upcoming DC film will showcase the origins of Black Adam while also setting the stage for the DCEU debut of several members of the Justice Society of America such as Atom Smasher and Hawkman.
Plot details of the film are still being kept under wraps, but it is expected to do a deep dive into the history and motivations of the titular Khandaq warrior. On top of that, the inclusion of the JSA members could also mean that the background of these characters will be explored as well.
Now, it seems that this will be the case, as evidenced by the film's first batch of set photos.

For context, this is the main spacecraft of Hawkman and Hawkgirl from the comics. In Black Adam, Aldis Hodge is set to play Hawkman, and the inclusion of this ship could hint that the character's past in Thanagar will be explored.

BLACK ADAM IS POISED TO THE HIGHLIGHT THE JSA
Based on these set photos, it looks like some parts of Black Adam will take place in space, which makes narrative sense due to the inclusion of Hawkman into the film's core narrative. While it's likely that this will only be a minor setting in the larger picture, the addition of intergalactic elements could help expand the storyline in surprising ways, and it could also hint at a larger reveal down the road.
Hawkman's backstory hasn't been fully explored in a live-action setting, but it seems that the Dwayne Johnson-led Black Adam will change that by offering a fresh narrative revolving around the iconic DC hero. It's also worth mentioning that Hodge has been putting in the work in terms of doing research for Hawkman, and this should serve as an added boost for the actor's portrayal of the character on the big screen.
Meanwhile, the presence of this closely tied element to one of the characters could also tease that other members of the JSA will receive a similar origin story treatment. If that will be the case, then the storyline of Black Adam will get bigger, and it's reasonable to assume that this development will open the doors for other stories for the franchise to tackle down the road.
Overall, Black Adam is shaping up to be an exciting project, and it will be interesting to find out more secrets as production gears up soon.
