Marvel Studios Casting Michael B. Jordan-Type Actor For Captain Marvel 2
Marvel Studios is hard at work preparing about two dozen projects for release in theaters and on Disney+ over the next couple of years, many being sequels for establshed properties from the MCU's Infinity Saga. Included in this bunch is Captain Marvel 2, which will mark the arrival of a new superhero trio coming together for the first time.
Brie Larson will return for her third outing in the franchise as she joins forces with Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris, both crossing over from Ms. Marvel and WandaVision respectively on Disney+. Although Kamala Khan's story is still very much in the dark, Monica Rambeau's is growing more interesting with every episode of the Elizabeth Olsen-led series, especially taking into account the mysterious unresolved issues with Carol Danvers.
Parris also mentioned a couple weeks ago how she would like Photon's story to expand in the MCU, and her wish may be coming true with a recent casting call...
CAPTAIN MARVEL 2 CASTING FOR A NEW ROLE
A new exclusive from Geeks WorldWide reveals that Marvel Studios is looking for a Michael B. Jordan/John Boyega type to play a supporting male role in 2022's Captain Marvel 2.
The call is looking for a 20-30 year old male, but there are no other details attached to the listing.
MARVEL LOOKING FOR BLUE MARVEL? MARVELOUS!
While this casting call is likely vague on purpose as to not spoil anything for the upcoming sequel, there is one direction pointing to a logical character for this role.
As is always the case with these types of casting calls, Michael B. Jordan and John Boyega are almost certainly not who the studio is targeting to fill this role. Jordan already portrayed Erik Killmonger in 2018's Black Panther, and could potentially return in the future, while there are no indications to what John Boyega's future will hold after the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Last week, WandaVision star Teyonah Parris was asked how she would like to see her hero's story progress in future MCU appearances over the years. She specifically mentioned Monica's comic-based relationship with the superhero Blue Marvel should he make his way into the story.
Adam Brashear, aka Blue Marvel, could be the spot-on option for this role that Marvel is looking to cast right now. While the chances of him being the space engineer in WandaVision are likely dwindling, that in no way means Marvel Studios won't bring him into play for future installments. This could very well mean that there was more to Parris' quote than it being just a fleeting idea.
A Michael B. Jordan/John Boyega-type seems to be the perfect match for this mystery hero, especially with Brie Larson's hero already gaining some capable backup. With Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel both in one movie, there's a definite chance that Marvel Studios could make it a full Marvel trio by casting Blue Marvel in this sequel.
Captain Marvel 2 is currently in pre-production and will release in theaters on November 11, 2022.
