Robert Pattinson's The Batman: Director Matt Reeves Shares New Set Photo To Celebrate Wrap

The DCEU is set to expand in surprising ways, and they will do it by embracing the concept of the multiverse. This means that several iterations of iconic heroes will be played by multiple actors while also confirming that other known shows and films from the DC banner are now part of the larger realm of alternate Earths. 

One of the characters that will experience the aforementioned treatment is Batman. While Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne is still trying to fix the main Earth of the franchise, another up-and-coming version is set to take center stage in the form of Robert Pattinson's playboy billionaire in 2022's The Batman. 

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman is set to introduce viewers to a very different Caped Crusader filled with new villains an intriguing storyline. On top of Pattinson's much-anticipated portrayal, the upcoming DC film will also showcase an all-star cast that includes the likes of Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, and Colin Farrell.

Despite multiple delays, the film's production has been in full swing ever since last year. Now, it looks like filming for the DCEU entry has reached its end. 

ROBERT PATTINSON'S THE BATMAN WRAPS FILMING

The Batman director Matt Reeves has confirmed in a tweet that the upcoming Robert Pattinson-led DC movie has wrapped filming.

Reeves shared the news by posting an image of a clapboard inside a bin that includes several pieces of police evidence along with the caption saying “#LastDay, #The Batman:”

WILL THE RELEASE DATE OF THE BATMAN STICK?

As it is, this development should serve as a piece of exciting news for fans, considering the current global situation. The entertainment industry had its fair share of production delays and continued shifting of release dates ever since the pandemic began, and The Batman is no stranger to that.

Despite that, the fact that the film has wrapped filming should mean that the challenge of delays will be a thing in the past, and the crew will now go ahead with the post-production phase to potentially reach the target release date. 

Still, the unexpected nature of the COVID-19 pandemic prompts concerns that another delay could be on the horizon, thus paving the way for a domino effect in the entire landscape of the slated movies in the coming years. The Batman was initially delayed from October 1, 2021 to March 4, 2022, and it's always possible that a surprising move could be in store if the situation doesn't improve over time. 

Meanwhile, the inclusion of a bin alongside several pieces of police evidence is a clever nod to the core narrative of The Batman. The DC flick is expected to do a deep dive into the detective roots of The Dark Knight, and this set photo serves as a fitting reminder of that. 

Whatever the case, the fact that production for The Batman has concluded is a win for the studio and the rest of the cast and crew. If anything, Reeves and the editors will have plenty of time in their hands to tweak and improve the film in post-production.
