Obi Wan Kenobi Inquisitor

Lucasfilm recently announced the official cast and teased the beginning of production for the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan KenobiPreviously confirmed actors Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen headlined and were accompanied by a few surprises.

Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse are set to return as Luke Skywalker's Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, respectfully. They will be joined by Eternals' Kumail Nanjiani, Straight Outta Compton's O'Shea Jackson Jr., Fast and Furious' Sung Kang, and more. Production is set to begin on the limited series this April.

The reveal also confirms The Queen's Gambit actress Moses Ingram will have a prominent role in the series. It appears Obi-Wan and Darth Vader may not be the only two to wield lightsabers.

LIGHTSABERS IN OBI-WAN SERIES

Ingram recently posted to her Instagram with the photo used in Star Wars' official post. MORE FORCE-USERS IN GALAXY

A lot of fans may be asking: Is Moses Ingram playing an established character? The answer is unclear and may not be known until trailers debut or the show launches.

In Star Wars: A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, it seemed that the Jedi were a dying breed and the Force was outdated religious "mumbo-jumbo." However, the video game Star Wars: Fallen Order, animated series Star Wars: Rebels, and more, has made it clear that there are more Force-users in the Galaxy than Skywalkers.

Ahsoka Tano, for example, not only lived through Order 66, but she survived long enough to see the Galactic Empire fall and meet Grogu, yet another Force-user. The bottom line is that there are more people using the Force in between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith and A New Hope than Obi-Wan ever let on to Luke back on Tatooine.

No matter who Ingram is portraying it appears lightsaber battles won't be shied away from in this series. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy already teased "the rematch of the century" between Kenobi and Darth Vader. It seems there are more battles coming our way when Obi-Wan Kenobi will hit Disney+ sometime in 2022.
