The Mandalorian Cast Member Defends Gina Carano Following Star Wars Firing
The hit Star Wars Disney+ series The Mandalorian recently saw a huge shakeup, as Cara Dune actress Gina Carano was fired from her role. The actress was let go due to her recent comments comparing being an American Republican in the modern era to the experiences of the Jewish community during the time of the Holocaust.
Carano was set to return in future installments of The Mandalorian and was slated to star in her own Disney+ spin-off series, but those plans will now have to change.
Following her firing, very few of her co-stars have spoken out in favor of the actress due to her controversial actions. However, one of her co-stars from The Mandalorian has now come to her defense, whilst sharing his disliking of the cancel culture era.
BILL BURR DEFENDS GINA CARANO COMMENTS
Migs Mayfeld actor Bill Burr has defended his The Mandalorian co-star Gina Carano, following her firing from future Star Wars properties.
On a recent episode of The Bill Bert Podcast, via IndieWire, Burr admitted that "it's a weird time" and implied that he didn't think that Carano should have been fired "unless she did some truly horrible shit or said overtly racist shit," saying on his show:
“It’s a weird time….Unless she did some truly horrible shit or said overtly racist shit... I don’t know. I think there is just too many channels. And then you gotta do sensational shit…I don’t know what the f*** it is. I’m on that f***ing show. Now, I gotta watch what the f*** I say.”
Burr described the Cara Dune actress as an “absolute sweetheart” and a “super nice f***ing person,” stating:
“She was an absolute sweetheart. Super nice f***ing person. And you know whatever and somehow someone will take this video and they'll make me say something else and try to get rid of my bald action figure. It's how it is out there. It's f***ing crazy times. People just waiting, laying in the weeds.”
The comedian and actor shared his opinion of the people waiting for celebrities to slip up in some way, describing the recent cancel culture era as “crazy times.”
Burr also shared his thoughts on cancel culture, stating:
“Now it’s becoming like, ‘Hey you made an ignorant comparison. (flushing sound) There goes your dream, right? I look at that and it’s like, ‘Who the fuck stands up to that?’”
