Captain Marvel 2 Begins Filming Next Week Under Chaotic Working Title
Marvel Studios' Phase Four slate is packed with new hero debuts, as well as sequels to their past blockbusters. Captain Marvel has proven to be one of the most controversial heroes to join the MCU in recent years, however, the immense success of her '90s set debut has led to a fast-tracked sequel production.
Captain Marvel 2 is set to release towards the end of next year, with shooting beginning soon under new director Nia DaCosta. Aside from several casting calls, and various actors joining the production, fans have largely been kept in the dark regarding the film's storyline.
It's been speculated the project will follow up on the story of the Secret Invasion Disney+ series that will star Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, as he takes on the shape-shifting Skrulls.
With cameras set to start rolling this spring, set photos and videos will likely begin to hit the internet soon. While the key cast members aren't getting in from of the cameras just yet, it seems the crew is already getting started, with reports claiming some aerial shots will be captured as soon as next week.
CAPTAIN MARVEL 2 FILMING IN NEW JERSEY NEXT WEEK
LRM Online confirmed last month that Captain Marvel 2 is being produced under the working title of “GOAT RODEO.” This refutes previous reports that that working title belongs to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is instead operating under the title of “DUSTY BUNNY.”

The report was recently backed up by Murphy's Multiverse, who went on to offer details on filming on the cosmic sequel that will be taking place next week. The Brie-Larson-led sequel will be filming aerial shots in New Jersey next week, however, no actors are expected to be present on set.
PREPARING FOR MS. MARVEL'S ROLE IN CAPTAIN MARVEL 2
The main production for Captain Marvel 2 isn't slated to begin until the end of May with shooting to take place in London and Los Angeles. The cameras won't be starting to roll on the main cast just yet, and the crew will likely just be capturing establishing shots of the area for now.
Both Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan's Ms. Marvel will appear in Carol Danvers' upcoming sequel, played by Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris respectively. New Jersey is infamously the home of Khan, who is historically a big fan of the Avenger, so it's safe to say she will be excited to team up with her idol.
With little known about Nia DaCosta's first dip into the Marvel universe, it's hard to predict how Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau will tie into Captain Marvel's next adventure. Both will have appeared in Disney+ series by that point, and will both have their own sets of superpowers, lining them up to join whatever cosmic battles the film may hold.
The working titles attached to Marvel Studios' productions are rarely very indicative of the actual plot, however, it often has some minor relevance to the story. The term goat rodeo is often used as slang for a chaotic event in which something has gone incredibly wrong, suggesting Captain Marvel will have a lot to deal with in her sequel.
Captain Marvel 2 will release in theaters on November 11, 2022.
