Ezra Miller's The Flash: WB Reportedly Diminished Ray Fisher's Role & Pay Before Removal

Flash Cyborg Batman

It's no secret that Warner Bros. has had more than its fair share of problems behind the scenes, many of them stemming from production on movies in the DC Extended Universe. Many of these originated during shooting and reshoots for the highly-maligned theatrical cut of Justice League, which bombed on screen and turned out to be a disaster of an effort behind the cameras as well.

At the center of these issues was Cyborg actor Ray Fisher accusing director Joss Whedon of abuse on the set after taking over for Zack Snyder, which led to a major shake-up in Warner Bros.' plans for its superhero franchise. Fisher's solo Cyborg movie was canceled, and it now seems unlikely that he will ever return to the role again.

As illuminated by a recent news release, this also applies to his original role in 2022's Ezra Miller-starring The Flash.

THE STORY OF CYBORG'S ROLE IN THE FLASH

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that before his removal from Warner Bros.' The Flash, Cyborg actor Ray Fisher's role in the film was reduced to a mere cameo. Warner Bros. framed Fisher's shoot as only two weeks of work, and he was offered a small portion of what he would have originally been paid as well.

Before his exit, Fisher was set to play a supporting role as Victor Stone alongside Ezra Miller's Barry Allen. Fisher even revealed that he had a very positive call about the project with director Andy Muschietti in June 2020.

After Fisher spoke out against Warner Bros. and Joss Whedon regarding the Justice League experience, the studio was said to have reduced his role in The Flash before removing him from the movie altogether.

During his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Fisher said he wasn't surprised about what happened, saying he "assumed there was no way these guys would allow me to do my job in peace:"

"When I first spoke up, I assumed there was no way these guys would allow me to do my job in peace...I'm not so indebted to Hollywood that I haven't been willing to put myself out there."

MORE DRAMA IN THE FISHER VS. WARNER BROS. SAGA

Ray Fisher's issues with Warner Bros. have been in the public eye for most of the past year, which is particularly tough considering how big his role in the DCEU was previously. While Justice League clearly didn't earn the praise and box office return the studio had hoped for, the reports on Joss Whedon's inappropriate behavior sent things south quickly.

Cyborg and the Flash have teamed up on numerous occasions in comics and TV shows alike, leading to the belief that this dynamic would be brought to the DCEU someday. While Fisher initially appeared to be a pretty big player in this solo movie, his role decreased more with each new report that came out on his legal fight with Warner Bros.

After his appearance in Zack Snyder's Justice League, it's unlikely at this time that Fisher will return to the role of Cyborg within the DCEU. Things could change in the future, but after a ten-month-long public tirade, the chances are slim for the mechanical superhero to come back as an important figure on screen.

The Flash is set to begin production in the next few weeks, and it will release in theaters on November 4, 2022.
