Falcon and Winter Soldier: Next Episode Reportedly Includes Popular Actor Cameo
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is entering its final stretch, but there are still plot points that are left unresolved. The series has already completed the first half of its limited season run on Disney+, introducing new characters such as John Walker and Lemar Hoskins while also featuring the MCU returns of Sharon Carter and Zemo.
Despite the massive ensemble of characters, it seems that the show has a major surprise for "Episode 5" in the form of a popular cameo. In recent weeks, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier creator Malcolm Spellman has been hyping up the aforementioned episode, teasing that viewers are “going to cry” when it airs.
In addition, Spellman also noted that the penultimate installment of the series will showcase a “very grounded character” that he wants to see side by side with Thor. It remains to be seen who this character will be, but a new report may have shed some light on the subject.
A HUGE MARVEL CAMEO
Slash Film shared in a report that the surprise character that will appear in the fifth episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is “not the one that we've seen in the MCU before and not one who is primed to appear in an upcoming film.”
The outlet then revealed that the individual is an “existing Marvel comics character” who is played by a well-known performer, with Slash Film admitting that this guest star “must have knocked it out of the park” for Malcolm Spellman to hype up the upcoming episode.
WHO WILL IT BE?
The report offers many intriguing possibilities, but it's reasonable to assume that the character is a major figure in the Captain America franchise from the pages of Marvel Comics. After all, the show revolves around the legacy of the Star-Spangled Avenger, and it will be fitting if this cameo will have some sort of history with Cap in the comics.
Who could this be? There's a strong chance that the penultimate episode will feature the debut of the MCU's Power Broker while also revealing that it is not Sharon Carter. This would fit the report's description that it is an “existing Marvel Comics character,” and the villain could be played by a popular actor.
In Marvel Comics, the Power Broker is actually a man named Curtiss Jackson, but the title was passed on to different individuals after the character's demise at the hands of the Punisher. That said, anyone could be playing the character in the MCU, may it be a male or a female, so the possibilities are endless.
Another interesting theory is Jennifer Walters a.k.a. She-Hulk. Fans have pointed out that leaked set photos from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's production last year appears to tease the involvement of Tatiana Maslany, seemingly indicating that the newly-cast MCU actress will play a role in the show's narrative.
Walters' inclusion makes narrative sense, considering that the character can be used as someone who can facilitate Sharon Carter's pardon or even tackle John Walker's latest rampage in court. On top of that, Walters also fits Spellman's “very grounded character” description.
The anticipation surrounding the fifth episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is at an all-time high due to Spellman's comments, and it will be interesting to find out if this character will change the narrative trajectory of Sam and Bucky in the series.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now streaming on Disney+.
