Hawkeye: Jeremy Renner Shares Selfie & Brief Message on Last Day of Shooting

Hawkeye, Jeremy Renner, MCU

Out of the six original Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are only three left standing. One of those is none other than Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye. A hero who is clearly the strongest Avenger and whose solo adventure Marvel chose to tell last—at least in regard to the OG Avengers.

That solo series is none other than Hawkeye, a Disney+ show that is tentatively scheduled for release later this year. Joining Barton will be newcomer Kate Bishop, a character who also holds the mantle of Hawkeye in the comics.

Many fans have speculated that Marvel Studios is trying to set the stage for yet another Avenger to leave the MCU playing field through the show. Though that’s not necessarily the case. Besides the confirmation that Barton & Bishop will be the series' main focus and the fact that it will be heavily influenced by Matt Fraction’s famous run on the character, not much is known about what the show will entail.

Filming began all the way back in December of 2020. It seems that after roughly five months, production may have reached the end.

THE END OF JEREMY RENNER'S MCU RUN?

On Instagram, Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner shared a brand-new selfie of him in character on set of Marvel Studios' Hawkeye on what is seemingly the last day of production for him on the show.

Renner included a message, saying that it was his final day, and that “This is not a goodbye, but a see you soon.” He also made sure to thank the cast and crew.

You can see his story in the image down below.

CLINT BARTON'S STORY CONTINUES

It's rather fitting that Renner gives fans a selfie on his last day, as we got one on his first day as well. With Hawkeye wrapping up production, that will make it the sixth Marvel Disney+ show in the bag—assuming What If? has been released by the time Hawkeye releases. Marvel clearly isn't messing around when it comes to getting these shows out there and fulfilling their promised slate.

What's even more impressive is that all the aforementioned projects all have 2021 release dates. That's not including the four films scheduled to be released in the same time frame. It would seem Marvel is making up for lost time, so thank you 2020?

While there's plenty left to get through before fans see Hawkeye in all of its glory, it's still hard not to be excited. To see Clint Barton finally get the solo story he's deserved after a decade of ensemble appearances will satisfying to many fans. Of course, there's also Kate Bishop—whose introduction brings us that much closer to a Young Avengers project.
