One of the highlights of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's fourth episode was the grand return of the Dora Milaje. The fierce female Wakandan warriors took on several of the series' characters with ease, and many Marvel fans are eager for more.

Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther and its 2022 sequel, has been announced to be spearheading an upcoming Wakanda-set series on Disney+, one that's been described as "a drama based in the Kingdom of Wakanda for Disney+." This means a stronger focus on the Dora Milaje in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a legitimate possibility in the near future.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE DORA MILAJE?

The Direct had the opportunity to sit down with Janeshia Adams-Ginyard, who plays Dora Milaje soldier Nomble in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as well as in Black Panther. Adams-Ginyard has also performed stunt work for MCU heroes like Danai Gurira's Okoye (Black Panther) as well as Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau (WandaVision)

We asked Adams-Ginyard about her thoughts on a potential return as her Dora Milaje character, specifically in Coogler's Wakanda series. The actress was enthusiastic about the possibility, saying that she "would be so down to do it."

"Look, let me tell you, if they do a Dora Milaje series, I would be so down to do it. I think it'd be amazing, it'd be awesome. Again, representation matters, but I mean, to expand on that, just seeing a series dedicated to strong, fierce women fighters, oh my God, like, watch out UFC! You know what I mean? It's a whole new level. S,o I would totally be down; I think it'd be absolutely amazing. I think everyone - you don't just have to be a woman - but everyone would be impacted by that. I think it would be good for entertainment, good for TV, just good all around."

THE RISE OF THE DORA MILAJE

The events of Black Panther 2 will likely lead into the upcoming Disney+ series set in Wakanda, but The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has certainly planted seeds for the Dora Milaje to potentially return in a prominent manner.

Danai Gurira's Okoye has been a fan favorite since Black Panther came out back in 2018, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier allowed viewers to get to know Florence Kasuma's Ayo a bit better. Now, two more members officially have names, Zola Williams' Yama and of course Adams-Ginyard's own Nomble.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's fourth episode revealed that Ayo helped Bucky Barnes overcome his HYDRA programming, which likely means she has worked to train other fighters in the past as being someone who could take the Winter Soldier down if needed would have to have been a requirement for that task. Knowing she has worked alongside Shuri could also make a particularly interesting dynamic for a future Wakanda-set project.
