Obi-Wan Kenobi: Leaked Set Photos Reveal Iconic Star Wars Location
After what's seemed like an eternal wait, Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the midst of production.
The event series will see Ewan McGregor return to the iconic role he last played in Revenge of the Sith, and he'll be joined by a star-studded cast that will include Hayden Christensen as none other than Darth Vader. The Kenobi series has been one of the most desired projects by fans since Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm, and after countless delays the cameras will begin rolling this month.
There's been a great deal of speculation surrounding the story for the series, particularly regarding how much of it will be spent on Tatooine. Descriptions of art shown during Disney's Investors Day event in December suggest that an aquatic world will be featured, and at some point Obi-Wan will have "the rematch of the century" with his former apprentice. But while there's sure to be plenty of new elements to feature in show, new set photos reveal a familiar place as well.
LEAKED SET IMAGES REVEAL THE LARS HOMESTEAD UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Noah Outlaw of Kessel Run Transmissions has shared new images depicting what appears to be the Lars homestead on Tatooine under construction for the Obi-Wan Kenobi set. The pictures can be seen below:

HOW TATOOINE MAY FEATURE IN OBI-WAN KENOBI
It goes without saying that the original dustball will play a big role in Kenobi. With Tatooine being the homeworld of both Obi-Wan and Luke Skywalker at this time, the show is undoubtedly going to begin and end on the iconic Star Wars world.
But what about what comes in between?
There's a contentious relationship between Obi-Wan and Owen Lars that's hinted at in A New Hope, but beyond a few comic panels has gone completely unexplored in canon. the Kenobi series would be an obvious place to explore this dynamic, and it would be impossible to show Obi-Wan watching over Luke and bickering with his protective uncle without having the family's home appear at some point.
Ewan McGregor described the series as "a rollicking adventure," one that will take fans away from the sands of Tatooine. Given Obi-Wan's sole task in protecting Luke, whatever transpires that sends the Jedi Master off-world must be significant. With the teases by cast members about wielding lightsabers and the rumored return of Commander Cody, Old Ben may have a few unpleasant run-ins that force him to leave the giant rock and get the Empire off of his - and Luke's - trail.
An interesting thing to note is how convenient the missing storage unit is that reveals the in-progress homestead. This leak comes hot off the heels of a video from the Tatooine set being dropped online, likely at the same site as the homestead. For production companies that are usually extremely tight about security, Disney and Lucasfilm seem to be uncharacteristically loose about allowing images of such iconic locations to be leaked. While it was a given that the Lars homestead would appear in the show, one has to consider that these lapses in security may be intentional to generate hype for the series - and if it's a sign of official things soon to come.
Star Wars fans have waited a long time for the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and now they're in the home stretch. With the cast set and production imminent, it won't be long until the crazy old wizard once again graces screens worldwide in 2022.
