Spider-Man 3: Set Photo Teases Captain America Shield Belonging To Statue of Liberty

Production is starting to wrap on a handful of MCU projects set to release later on in Phase 4, which is now set more into stone thanks to the most recent release schedule update. The last of the ten releases in 2021 will be the Marvel and Sony team-up effort on Spider-Man: No Way Home, which has become one of the highest-profile MCU movies ever.

Production is seemingly finished for Tom Holland's third solo adventure, which will pit him against more unique threats than ever before. Even though no specific plot details are known for this movie outside of Peter Parker's identity crisis from the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, it's impossible for the threequel to swing under the radar with so much talent surrounding the young star.

In the latest round of news concerning the blockbuster, set photos revealed a fascinating image for fans to get excited about.

IS LADY LIBERTY A CAPTAIN AMERICA FAN?

After walking past the set of Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man: No Way Home near Trilith Studios in Atanta, GATwitter user and content creator Houston Coley has revealed a piece of the movie's set that hadn't yet been taken down.

The still-constructed set-piece shows a Queens bus stop with a poster of the Statue of Liberty holding the classic Captain America shield, including the text "Meet NYC's Newest (and tallest) Avenger" and the social media hashtag #MyLibertyAvenger.

The set photos can be seen in the post below:

Charles Murphy of Murphy's Multiverse confirmed that this set-piece was used for Spider-Man: No Way Home's production, even indicating that this image will be "the backdrop for a KEY scene in the film."

THE MCU SETTLING INTO NYC ONCE AGAIN

Yet again, it appears that the Big Apple will play host to another round of insane superhero antics in the MCU's story. After serving as a key player in more than half of the franchise's movies to date, including the entire Avengers series as well as both previous Spider-Man films, Peter Parker's home city will have to be ready for more madness.

It's unclear whether Lady Liberty will make a full-blown appearance in No Way Home, but seeing the American landmark with the red, white, and blue shield is an incredible sight for MCU fans regardless. However, this bus stop image could very well tease the statue coming into play at some point. What better location is there for multiple web-slingers, Doctor Strange, and over a half-dozen antagonists to do battle than New York's iconic figure?

It's clear that the plot of this threequel will remain as under wraps as possible, but that won't stop fans from speculating on the story for the next eight months. After multiple reports seemingly indicated that the Spider-Men played by both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will swing in alongside Tom Holland, the hype continues to build by the day.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will debut in theaters on December 17, 2021.
