Star Wars: Ewan McGregor Grows Out Beard & Mustache For Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Filming

Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to explore the titular Jedi Knight's solitude on Tatooine, but the basic premise of the show suggests that it will be peaceful from the get-go. Directed by Deborah Chow, the limited series will banner a massive ensemble of stars including the likes of Joel Edgerton, Kumail Nanjani, and the returning Hayden Christensen from the prequel trilogy

Christensen has been confirmed to reprise his role as Darth Vader, and this essentially points to a rematch between the two former friends. On top of that, the stacked cast could also hint that Tatooine will not be the only setting for the series, meaning that Obi-Wan will likely jump from one planet to another to evade Vader's Inquisitors who will be trying to catch him.

While fans wait for more concrete details about Obi-Wan Kenobi, a new image may have unveiled the upcoming look of the titular Jedi in the series.

EWAN MCGREGOR'S OBI-WAN LOOK REVEALED

Cycle Garden Motorcycles posted a new photo on Instagram that seemingly revealed the updated look of Ewan McGregor for the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series.

In the image, it's quite evident that McGregor has longer facial hair for the show's coming production.

AN IMPORTANT PRODUCTION UPDATE FOR OBI-WAN KENOBI

Based on this reveal, it's reasonable to assume that filming for Obi-Wan Kenobi will start any day now, especially after it was confirmed that production will begin in April 2021.

McGregor's look is a combination of his previous iterations from the prequels, with the hair closely resembling his form for Attack of the Clones while the beard is a much longer version of what was shown in Revenge of the Sith.

This appearance would align with the confirmed timeline of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The show's narrative will begin ten years after Revenge of the Sith, and Obi-Wan growing a beard and mustache during that span would fit the gap.

At this stage, the exact release date of the limited series has yet to be confirmed, but previous evidence suggests that it will debut sometime in 2022. Given that filming will soon commence, a 2022 premiere is likely. That being said, the continued vaccination program around the world against the pandemic should help cement this release date by avoiding more delays.

All in all, Obi-Wan Kenobi is shaping up to be an exciting Star Wars series, and McGregor's latest look should boost fan anticipation even further.
