Star Wars: Leaked Video Reveals Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Set

Obi-Wan Kenobi

After what feels like a lifetime of waiting, Lucasfilm and Disney are gearing up to begin production on the highly-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series premiering on Disney+. Leading actor Ewan McGregor is putting in the intense physical work to play the Jedi master for the first time in over 15 years while the studio fills in his supporting cast.

Along with Hayden Christiansen returning as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, the team of on-screen personalities is expectedly top-notch for this major Star Wars endeavor. Thanks to the help of Kumail Nanjiani from Marvel's Eternals, O'Shea Jackson, Jr. from Straight Outta Compton, and more, McGregor's next chapter as Obi-Wan will certainly expand on the franchise lore following the early 2000s sequel trilogy.

With a cast this excellent, they need an equally impressive stage on which to play...

HELLO THERE, TATOOINE!

Tatooine

A new video on TikTok shows details of the set being built for Lucasfilm's Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+. While the specifics are still unknown, the set clearly appears to be from the planet of Tatooine.

The video can be seen in the Tweet below, set to the classic Cantina Band music from Episode IV: A New Hope:

RETURNING TO A FAMILIAR LANDSCAPE

Fans are well aware that at the end of Episode III, Obi-Wan Kenobi left a baby Luke Skywalker with his aunt and uncle, Owen and Beru, before imposing his own exile on the same planet. Given that this series is set to expand on Kenobi's story during this time, it seems only right that one of Star Wars' longest-standing locations is currently being built for production.

While it's clear that the set is still far from complete, Lucasfilm has spared no details yet in constructing this important location for McGregor and his co-stars to use for shooting. News has pointed to this show following the same path as Andor, which is using expansive physical sets along with the "Volume" set technology utilized so effectively for the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.

This combination should help bring a great deal of realism to Tatooine not only on screen but for the actors bringing the story to life as well.

With very few plot details have been released, it will be exciting to find out how Star Wars' desert planet comes into play once filming begins. There are certainly some more regions of this world that are ripe for exploration, and it wouldn't be a shock to return to familiar locations like Mos Eisley that have existed for over four decades of real-time.

No matter what the specifics turn out to be, plenty of work appears to have been done on this impressive set for Tattooine. Obi-Wan Kenobi will begin filming here sometime this month, and the show is set to debut on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
