Anthony Mackie Calls Out Spider-Man Star Tom Holland During Marvel Award Win

MTV hosted its 2021 Movie Awards show the other night, and it turned out to be a huge evening for the folks at Marvel Studios. After releasing its first two projects of Phase 4 on Disney+ with WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the comic book movie juggernaut found itself looking to make room for some shiny new hardware.

WandaVision became a triple winner with awards for Best Fight (Kathryn Hahn and Elizabeth Olsen), Best Performance (Elizabeth Olsen), and overall Best Show (WandaVision). The two leading ladies had some company in Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, who won awards for Best Duo and Best Hero (Mackie) for their work in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Mackie even shouted out one of his fellow MCU co-stars during his acceptance speech, continuing an ongoing off-screen rivalry...

After accepting his award for "Best Hero" at the 2021 MTV Movie Awards, MCU star Anthony Mackie called out Spider-Man actor Tom Holland in his speech.

Mackie urged fans in attendance and on TV to "be safe" and enjoy the night before looking straight into the camera menacingly. He proceeded to directly tell Holland "I'm on your ass" as the crowd laughed and cheered behind him:

“Thank you guys so much. Y’all be safe, enjoy yourself, I’m getting out of here. Tom Holland…I’m on your ass, boy. I’m on your ass.”

HOLLAND IS ON MACKIE'S RADAR

No matter what the situation is, Anthony Mackie just can't seem to leave Tom Holland be!

The two first co-starred together in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, in which Holland's Spider-Man got the better of both Mackie's Falcon and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes in the airport battle. Their banter brought plenty of laughs as the young web-slinger saw his first real fight in the MCU.

The two haven't directly interacted with each other since that moment, although their off-screen verbal sparring has been just as entertaining as their movie appearances. Both continue to take shots at each other seemingly every few months, bringing laughter-inducing moments at every turn.

Mackie had the last laugh before the awards show as well, coming back at Holland from the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, simply grinning as he flew by the camera while referencing Holland's past joke about Mackie not having his own movie.

It's a mystery as to when Holland and Mackie will appear in another MCU movie together. There's always the possibility that the two stars' off-camera antics could end up having an influence on whatever scenes Peter Parker and Sam Wilson share together in upcoming Marvel projects. Whether that happens, Mackie is clearly enjoying his time in the spotlight with a target like Holland squarely in his sights.

All six episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are available to stream on Disney+.
