Emily Blunt Responds To Fantastic Four Rumors About Husband John Krasinski & Herself

Fantastic Four Emily Blunt John Krasinski Casting

Emily Blunt has been a name long attached to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but she's never actually appeared in the blockbuster franchise. Somewhat famously, she was forced to turn down the role of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in 2010's Iron Man 2 due to a scheduling conflict and the role, of course, went to Scarlett Johansson instead.

In the past few years, many Marvel diehards have really wanted to see Blunt take on the role of the Fantastic Four's Sue Storm aka. The Invisible Woman for the upcoming MCU reboot of Marvel's First Family. Actually, scratch "really wanted." Fans have been clamoring to see the actress play Sue alongside her real-life husband John Krasinski as Reed Richards aka. Mister Fantastic.

KRASINSKI AND BLUNT IN THE MCU? A REED RICHARDS-LEVEL STRETCH

Speaking ton The Howard Stern Show, Emily Blunt dispelled casting rumors that she and husband John Krasinski are up for roles in Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four movie:

“That is fan-casting. No one has received a phone call. That’s just people saying, ‘Wouldn’t that be great?’"

Blunt continued, candidly revealing that she doesn't even like superheroes movies:

“It’s not that it’s beneath me. I love Iron Man and when I got offered Black Widow I was obsessed with Iron Man. I wanted to work with Robert Downey Jr.—it would’ve been amazing … but I don’t know if superhero movies are for me. They’re not up my alley. I don’t like them. I really don’t.”

The A Quiet Place star explained her feelings about the abundance of on-screen comic book properties, saying that she would still be "interested" in being a superhero if the character was "really cool:"

“It’s been exhausted. We are inundated—it’s not only all the movies, it’s the endless TV shows as well. It’s not to say that I’d never want to play one, it would just have to be something so cool and like a really cool character, and then I’d be interested."
