Hawkeye Disney+: 'Directors Cut' Celebrated By Marvel Directing Duo

Hawkeye Jeremy Renner Disney Plus Series

Marvel Studios has a huge few months ahead for Phase Four of the MCU, which will come to a close on the Disney+ streaming platform with the Hawkeye series. Jeremy Renner is set to lead the way in his first lead billing of his MCU career as he teams up with new heroes like Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop and Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova.

Renner revealed that his last day of shooting on the series came in April 2021 after about five months of hard work bringing the MCU's archer back for his own solo adventure.

The Disney+ show will focus on a Clint Barton that has already been through his Infinity Saga journey, picking up in a post-Avengers: Endgame world where he's reunited with his family again. He will also find himself taking on more of a mentor role with both Kate Bishop and Alaqua Cox's Echo, although the plot of the show is largely being kept under wraps for now.

With filming now having been completed for Hawkeye, the crew is taking a moment to celebrate the occasion.

HAWKEYE DIRECTORS CELEBRATE SHOW'S END

Hawkeye directing team Bert & Bertie posted an image on Instagram celebrating the MCU Disney+ show wrapping production. The image shows a message that reads "Congrats on finishing up director's cut!" above a box of various flavors of cookies.

The post included the following caption:

"We did it! Thank you to our supremely talented editors Roseanne Tan and Tim Roche and to our multi-talented, multi-faceted and multi-awesome Marvel Post Team. Couldn’t have done it without you. No, really."

A LITTLE EARLIER THAN EXPECTED?

This is an interesting post from the Disney+ directing duo, especially considering both how long ago Hawkeye finished filming and how long it's supposed to be until the show releases.

With likely less special effects work needed than many of its Disney+ companions, Hawkeye may not need as much time for editing and post-production as shows that feature more extensive superpower action. However, the series is also listed as the MCU's final streaming show to debut in 2021 after both What If...? and Ms. Marvel.

It will also be interesting to find out if the "director's cut" comment means anything other than the show finishing the work it needs to release on Disney+.

Whatever the case may be here, Bert & Bertie have clearly loved their time working with Marvel so far and appear proud of the work they and the team have put in on Hawkeye. It will likely still be a few months until the show makes its streaming run, although fans are excited to see the original Avenger take on his newest challenges.

Hawkeye is set to debut on Disney+ in late 2021.
