Loki: First Look at Deobia Oparei With Tom Hiddleston In Disney+ Show Revealed

Deobia Oparei, Loki

Loki is the next Marvel Studios project to hit Disney+, bringing the God of Mischief to the platform on June 9.

Teletubbies inspiration and talking clocks are set to make Loki's solo outing a wacky adventure, but skeptical fans should know that the series was pitched as being the “best show ever," according to head writer Michael Waldron.

With the show's premiere fast approaching, Marvel Studios has released trailers, teasers, and TV spots to get fans ready for the big event. One moment from a recent teaser saw Loki adorned in his original costume from The Avengers following from the time-traveling events of Avengers: Endgame. Another trailer showed Tom Hiddleston's character equipped with a blazing sword of flames, with its purpose still up for debate.

A new addition to the series has now received its first look in a recent piece of promotional material...

FIRST GLIMPSE AT DEOBIA OPAREI'S FAMILIAR MCU CHARACTER

In an Instagram post on December 10, 2020 that went largely under the radar by fans and outlets, Deobia Oparei confirmed that he had been cast in a role in the Loki Disney+ series. Oparei's post included the Loki trailer that premiered the day beforehand along with the caption, "Excited to be a part of this. Can’t wait to share more."

While Disney is still keeping wraps on Oparei's role, according to The Direct's sources, he's playing an established Marvel character.

A recent Loki TV spot offered the first look at Oparei in the series, with his MCU character dressed in heavy warrior armor and swinging a weapon at an apparent enemy while Tom Hiddleston's Loki stands in shock behind him.

ANOTHER ADDITION TO THE CAST OF LOKI

Deobia Oparei has had his fair share of experience with blockbuster roles, having appeared in films and television series such as Game of ThronesDumbo, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. While these were all relatively minor or supporting roles on big-budget productions, Oparei's resume ensures that he has the necessary chops to hop over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Oparei makes for a welcome inclusion to the already star-studded lineup for Loki, joining the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Richard E. Grant.

Loki is already set to introduce a multitude of new characters into the MCU, including Mobius M. Mobius, members of the Time Variance Authority, and other variants of the God of Mischief himself. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously teased that the series would explore other versions of Loki, saying that "part of the fun of the multiverse and playing with time is seeing other versions of characters, and other versions of the titular character in particular."

Considering all the out-there concepts that the Disney+ show will be handling, Deobia Oparei's involvement should be an exciting addition to Loki's growing list of characters.

Loki premieres on June 9, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
