Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+: Rumor Suggests Darth Vader's Inquisitors To Appear In Series

Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Inquisitor

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to add a brand-new layer to the story of Ewan McGregor's famous Jedi Master, showcasing an unexplored chapter after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and before Star Wars: A New Hope

The upcoming Disney+ series will not only feature the return of McGregor into the titular role, but it will also mark the triumphant comeback of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. This means that a highly-anticipated rematch between the two former friends will happen, thus turning Obi-Wan Kenobi into must-see content for any Star Wars fan.

On top of the two prequel stars, Obi-Wan Kenobi will also feature a massive ensemble with the likes of Joel Edgerton, Kumail Nanjani, and Moses Ingram joining the show. Details about the roles of these cast members are still being kept under wraps, but Ingram teased that her character will wield a lightsaber in the series.

Now, a new rumor may shed some light on the mysterious role of the actress.

MOSES INGRAM AS AN INQUISITOR?

Steele Wars recently sat down with Corey Van Dyke of Kessel Run Transmissions, who discussed the mystery role of Moses Ingram in Obi-Wan Kenobi

Van Dyke shared that he heard from one source that Ingram will play an Inquisitor in the Disney+ series, though Van Dyke stressed that he still has yet to confirm this news with other sources:

“This isn't something I'm running as a scoop because it's only from one person so until I hear from other people, I don't know. I was told that she is definitely an Inquisitor so we'll see. I don't know. I'm still running it with other sources. We'll see.

OBI-WAN KENOBI VS. DARTH VADER'S INQUISITORS

While fans should take this rumor with a grain of salt, it makes narrative sense for Moses Ingram to play an Inquisitor in Obi-Wan Kenobi

In Star Wars canon, Inquisitors are former Jedi who surrendered to the Empire and fell to the dark side of the Force after the Great Purge. The team, under Darth Vader's leadership, tracked down the remaining Jedi who survived Order 66 and enforced the Empire's rule throughout the galaxy.

Based on the show's place in the timeline, the state of the galaxy is in shambles, and the Jedi appears to be no more (well, a good chunk of them). The introduction of the live-action Inquisitors is fitting for Obi-Wan Kenobi since it gives the Jedi Master a proper challenge while also setting the stage for his ultimate duel with Darth Vader.

Given that the Inquisitors are former Jedi Knights, it's possible that Obi-Wan Kenobi will relive the past of Ingram's character before Order 66. This also presents a prime opportunity for the show to provide more insight into the character's fall to the dark side.

Whatever the case, Ingram is poised to play a pivotal role in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and it will be interesting to see her dynamic with Ewan McGregor's iconic character.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to stream on Disney+ sometime in 2022.

The full interview can be seen below, with Van Dyke's answer coming in at the 7:40 mark of the video:
