Spider-Man 3: Andrew Garfield Claims 'Never Say Never' To Return After MCU Rumor Denials
Even with everything that Marvel and Disney teased in Monday’s three-minute sizzle reel, no new information came to light for December’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. This isn’t surprising considering that the film is one of the MCU’s most massive endeavors to date, with leading man Tom Holland calling it the most ambitious solo movie the franchise has ever attempted.
Alfred Molina confirmed a few weeks ago that he will be reprising the role of Doc Ock straight from 2004’s Spider-Man 2, bringing the multiverse fully into play. Other rumors have teased everybody from Jaime Foxx’s Electro to both previous Spider-Men returning as well, although it’s clear that nobody is setting anything in stone if they can help it.
Just the other day, Andrew Garfield firmly denied that he was coming back as the web-slinger, even with reports from late last year saying otherwise. However, his tone appears to have changed in less than 24 hours.
GARFIELD SAYS "NEVER SAY NEVER"
In an interview with Access Hollywood, via Twitter, actor Andrew Garfield, who portrayed Peter Parker / Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man movies, discussed the idea of potentially appearing in Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home.
While he's "heard all the rumors of everything" and loves the idea of a Spidey reprisal, Garfield said that it's not "something that [he's] been asked about" at this time. However, he concluded his response by simply saying "never say never":
"I, of course, you know, I’ve heard all the rumors of everything and to be frank, I think it’s a really cool idea. But like, as a fan , just as a pure fan, to have like… Yeah, it’s a really cool idea. But, yeah, as I’ve said previously, it’s not something that I, you know, I don’t - God, I hate being given the responsibility of disappointing people. But, yeah, no. It’s not something that I’ve been asked about [by Marvel Studios] or anything like that, but, you know, never say never."

POSSIBLY THE CRAZIEST MCU MOVIE EVER
Talk about a quick change of tune!
Marvel fans worldwide know that the franchise’s biggest actors are contractually obligated to keep their mouths shut on anything remotely spoiler-related, especially on a movie as big as Spider-Man: No Way Home. Garfield is simply doing what anybody in his position is supposed to do with so many rumors circulating that he will find himself alongside both Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire's web-slingers.
That being said, the smile on his face is expected considering how much he's spoken about loving his time as the wall-crawler in both Amazing Spider-Man films. Couple this with the gifted t-shirts from set adorned with his version of the hero on them, and it's more than enough to have fans cheering for his possible return.
It's highly unlikely that Marvel and Sony will showcase any footage from this movie for some time, especially any confirming actors like Garfield. In the end, all the world can do is wait and see what madness the two studios have planned for 2021's last MCU big-screen adventure.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will release in theaters on December 17, 2021.
