Star Wars Reveals Mind-Blowing Lightsaber Tech & New Concept Art For Disney World Luxury Hotel

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

May the 4th be with you! It's an especially great day to be a fan of that galaxy far, far away.

In addition to new art on Disney+ celebrating the Star Wars library of projects, Lucasfilm also released its newest animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch on Disney+ just in time for Star Wars Day.

But, that's not all. For fans who have always wanted to live out their own Star Wars adventure, Disney dropped some exciting news and revealed some new jaw-dropping tech...

JOIN THE CREW OF THE STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER

To kick off May the 4th, the Disney Parks Blog shared new information about the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opening at Walt Disney World in 2022, as well as activating lightsabers created for this experience.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, the Galactic Starcruiser experience is a two-night adventure where guests are transported from Walt Disney World to the Halcyon starcruiser via launch pod.

Upon arrival through airlock doors, guests will have the opportunity to interact with an "eclectic group of characters both familiar and new," including a Twi'lek superstar who performs aboard the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.

Disney also unveiled brand-new concept art for the dining room in time for May the 4th, detailing the experience as "enticing:"

"The enticing supper club’s name is an homage to Corellia, the planet known galaxy-wide for its shipyards that gave us not only the Halcyon starcruiser, but also the Millennium Falcon. The dining room is a bright and welcoming hall that will offer breakfast and lunch to passengers before transitioning each evening into a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins."

In addition to intergalactic dining, guests aboard the Halcyon will also be able to travel to Batuu or Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios in addition to lightsaber training.

As part of the reveal, the Disney Parks Blog also released a video of Rey activating an incredibly realistic lightsaber created by Walt Disney Imagineering.

According to the video, which can be seen below, guests aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser "will be the first to see it in action – along with so much more – starting in 2022."

A STAR WARS VACATION?

Guests who book a stay aboard the Galactic Starcruiser will be enjoying a resort that actually simulates space travel and life within the Star Wars Universe.

Disney referred to this saying that "this isn't storytelling – it's storyliving, where you'll see, feel, and live Star Wars in a whole new way."

Clearly, this isn't just new territory for Walt Disney World and the hospitality industry in general but also for Star Wars fans.

Of course, questions remain about this new lightsaber tech, such as whether it's solely limited to the Galactic Starcruiser and if it's only conducive to a designed environment.

Regardless, this video is thrilling for fans who have always dreamed of wielding a saber in the style of Anakin, Luke, and Rey.

And then, there's the reveal of the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. Since it's called a "dining room," the set-up will likely be similar to that onboard an actual cruise ship.

It's safe to say that live performances from a Twi'lek coupled with a menu described as "otherworldly" are things Star Wars fans have never experienced.
