The Flash Movie: Supergirl Actress Sasha Calle Cuts Hair For Superhero Role
2022 will finish with a flourish for the DC Extended Universe with the release of The Flash on November 4.
This movie has been in the works for Warner Bros. for several years when it was initially supposed to debut directly after 2017's Justice League, although it faced numerous delays due to personnel changes. Now that cameras are finally rolling for this multiversal adventure, fans can finally look forward to seeing the Scarlet Speedster in his first full-length movie.
The Flash is set to feature Ezra Miller's Barry Allen alongside two different Bruce Waynes played by both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton. Additionally, the film will bring the debut of Sasha Calle's Supergirl, introducing the heroine into the DCEU for the first time after being played by Melissa Benoist in the Supergirl TV show for six seasons.
In preparation to take on this role, Calle shared an update on social media.
A HAIRCUT FOR SUPERGIRL?
Supergirl actress Sasha Calle's recent Instagram post indicates that she's gotten a haircut with much shorter hair than she usually sports. This appears to be in preparation to take on her new role in 2022's The Flash.
SASHA CALLE'S REASONING FOR HER HAIR UPDATE
While this may be a bit of a shock for fans to see before her next big project, there are a couple of potential reasons for why she made this decision.
This short black haircut could simply be the look the DCEU is going for with Supergirl, which has been seen through past iterations from the comics. While the widely popular Kara Danvers has typically sported longer blonde hair in her time in TV and comic books, other characters like Cir-El have been seen with the shorter-haired look that Calle currently has.
Additionally, the team behind The Flash could be sporting Calle with a blonde wig, with her new haircut making it easier for her to sport the classic Supergirl look. Wigs are common practice within superhero movies such as the ones used by Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston in the Thor films, which sets plenty of precedence for this costuming decision to come here.
Regardless of what happens, it's exciting enough knowing that Calle is so deep into preparation to play Supergirl for the DCEU. It will be interesting to find out how she meshes with the stacked superhero cast in this movie and even more so how she will continue through her time in the franchise.
The Flash is currently filming and will debut in theaters on November 4, 2022.
