The Mandalorian: Evidence Suggests Return of Timothy Olyphant In Upcoming Star Wars Project
Since his debut in Season 2 of The Mandalorian last year, Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth has proved popular among fans and many are keen to see more of his character.
The character was seen on Tatooine sporting pieces of the famed Boba Fett armor. After running into Mando and Grogu on their adventure it was unknown as to if he would be seen again in the franchise.
Well, if the actor's latest hairstyle is anything to go off, he could be returning to the galaxy far, far away soon.
OLYPHANT BACK IN MANDO?
Last night, Timothy Olyphant appeared on CONAN sporting a hairstyle and rugged facial hair very similar to his look in Season 2 of The Mandolorian.
Comparing Olyphant's look as Cobb Vanth in "The Marshall" episode of The Mandalorian, and it is easy to see the resemblance between late-night Olyphant and Star Wars Olyphant.
Olyphant has appeared most often cleanly-shaven during his press appearances in years past.
Considering the production timelines of The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandorian Season 3 - with the former wrapping up filming and the latter soon to begin shooting, fans have begun to speculate that this is a sign of Olyphant's return in at least one of the two aforementioned upcoming Star Wars projects.
TIMOTHY'S PLACE IN STAR WARS
With Boba Fett being given his own show and the teaser at the end of The Mandalorian Season 2 revealing that he now sits on the throne once occupied by Jabba the Hutt, the Sheriff of Mos Pelgo (Olyphant) is a clear candidate for return.
Last month it was rumored that the actor could return as an ally or someone for Boba Fett to seek his revenge on, after Jordan Maison of Cinelinx.com, via Kessel Runs Transmissions, said that, alongside others, Cobb Vanth may be poised to show back up in The Book of Boba Fett.
Dave Filoni is no stranger to weaving his characters into different stories. From the reappearance of Cut Lawquane in The Bad Batch to the live-action debuts of Bo Katan and Ahsoka last year. It would certainly be unusual for Filoni to discard a character that fits so well into The Book of Boba Fett and has proved so popular amongst fans.
It could also be that Cobb Vanth is returning to The Mandalorian to accompany Din Djarin on his adventures. Season 3 is due to go into production soon, and fans have seen Ewan McGregor's longer hair ahead of him returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi next year, the mop up top can be a clue to an actor's upcoming role.
There are certainly striking similarities here. The hairstyles are nearly identical. Of course, only time will tell if the local sheriff is making another appearance, and if so, what of the many Star Wars shows it will be. It could also be that Timothy Olyphant simply likes this hairstyle, but given that it's something he's never had prior to playing the role of Cobb Vanth, it goes some way into feeding the hopes of many.
If this hairstyle suggests anything, it's that "The Marshall" may have been the first, but it will likely not be the last time that we see an extension of Cobb Vanth's story.
