The Suicide Squad: New Image Teases Undercover Mission With Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi & More

The Suicide Squad is set to feature a different Task Force X filled with a wide array of DC villains, but, as expected, not all of them will make it out alive by the film's end.

Directed by James Gunn, the upcoming DCEU film has been described as a hybrid reboot/sequel to David Ayer's Suicide Squad from 2016. This is due to the fact that some mainstays from its predecessor will be involved, with the likes of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag set to return.

Joining them is a stacked ensemble of stars including Idris Elba's Bloodsport, John Cena's Peacemaker, Sylvester Stallone's King Shark, and many more. All of them will join forces to stop a common enemy in the form of Starro the Conqueror.

However, it seems that before the team's confrontation with Starro, they will be tasked to explore Corto Maltese to find out the secrets of this dangerous site.

Now, a new image has surfaced that could shed some light on the team's exploits in this location.

TASK FORCE X GOES UNDERCOVER

Reddit user Samoht99 unearthed an official still from The Suicide Squad showcasing Task Force X in what appears to be an undercover mission at a bar inside Corto Maltese.

This new image appears to be taken moments before the dance montage that The Suicide Squad trailer already teased. To recap, several shots of David Dastmalchian's Polka Dot Man and John Cena's Peacemaker could be seen hyping up the dance floor.

It is currently unknown how Idris Elba's team of villains ended up at this peculiar bar, but it's possible that this is an undercover mission to save a member of the team. On the flip side, there is also a chance that this will be an effort to retrieve information about Corto Maltese, thus leading to the reveal that the country has access to Starro the Conqueror.

Given that Task Force X is pretty much invested in its change of wardrobe, it seems that whatever information that they are trying to get is vital to the success of their overall mission.

Fans will find out if Task Force X is successful when The Suicide Squad premieres in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
