Thor 4: Marvel Writer Hypes Up Natalie Portman's Jane Foster Role
Thor: Love and Thunder is one of the most anticipated projects in Marvel's Phase 4. Directed by Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi, the film will serve as the fourth installment of the Thor franchise, and it will showcase the return of Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder alongside several favorites like the Guardians of the Galaxy and Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie.
These characters will not be the only ones that will make a comeback since Marvel Studios already announced that Love and Thunder will feature the much-anticipated return of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. This time, though, the character will transform into a Mjolnir-wielding hero in the form of Mighty Thor.
Very little is known about the plot of Love and Thunder, but it is expected that the heroes will team up to fight Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher. In addition, much of the hype for the upcoming MCU film is due to its star-studded cast, with the likes of Russell Crowe and Jeff Goldblum joining the massive Marvel ensemble as well.
Now, it seems that there will be more reasons to get excited for Love and Thunder based on the latest comment from an established Marvel writer.
MIGHTY THOR CREATOR DIALS UP LOVE AND THUNDER HYPE
Marvel Comics writer Jason Aaron, who is well known for his stories about Thor (specifically The Mighty Thor in which Jane Foster transforms into Thor), expressed excitement about the MCU return of Natalie Portman's Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder.
On Twitter, a fan asked if he can say anything about Taika Waititi's take on Jane Foster in the upcoming MCU. Aaron simply responded by saying that he trusts Waititi's portrayal of the character, admitting that he has “all the faith in the world” in the Marvel director:
What little I know makes me even more excited. I have all the faith in the world in Taika. https://t.co/965NA1MnXY

JANE FOSTER'S MIGHTY THOR UNLEASHED
It's no secret that Jason Aaron propelled Jane Foster's Mighty Thor into greater heights, considering that he created the transformation in the first place. That said, Aaron's latest remark carries some serious weight, and this should definitely excite fans of the character.
There's a strong chance that Aaron is telling the truth when he revealed that he knows very “little” about Thor: Love and Thunder, considering the secrecy surrounding every Marvel project. Still, the fact that he has faith in Taika Waititi's vision for Natalie Portman's Marvel hero should further cement the idea that this upcoming iteration will work well.
It remains to be seen if Love and Thunder will follow Aaron's Thor run from the pages of Marvel Comics in terms of showcasing Jane Foster's transition into Mighty Thor. To recap, the character became the Mighty Thor despite battling cancer.
The cancer storyline from the comics will definitely create a compelling narrative in live-action, but the MCU is known for adapting stories with their own twists. It's possible that the cancer part of it all will be involved, with Marvel Studios adding more elements to make it even more interesting.
Whatever the case, Love and Thunder has the potential to change the MCU in numerous ways, and it's safe to say that Jason Aaron is onboard with the film's creative directions.
Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere in theaters on May 6, 2022.
