Zachary Levi's Shazam 2: Actor Teases Updated Superhero Costumes
The DC Extended Universe is gearing up for a huge slate of films in the not-too-distant future, many of which are filming right now and preparing for release in 2022 and 2023. Some of these will be the first of their kind for solo heroes like Ezra Miller's Barry Allen in The Flash, but the franchise will also bring a couple of highly anticipated sequels into the mix following up from other outings in the last few years.
One of these sequels is Zachary Levi's Shazam!: Fury of the Gods, which will bring back the services of nearly every star from 2019's Shazam! as Asher Angel and Zachari Levi team up for the second time. The two will have to go up against high-profile villains played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu, but thankfully, they'll have plenty of back-up after Billy Batson bestowed superhero powers upon his foster siblings.
One of the actors included in that group of heroes even teased some upgrades that fans should expect when the film arrives in two years...
NEW SUITS FOR THE SHAZAM FAMILY
Actor Ross Butler took to Instagram to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and he included an image of his hero from the DCEU's Shazam!. In the post, he added the following caption with a tease of "fresh updated" suits that he and his co-stars got for 2023's Shazam!: Fury of the Gods:
"This month is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. I am proud to be a part of an ever growing community of Asian American entertainers and story tellers dedicated to preserving what makes us unique, redefining what is assumed of us, and setting a new standard. Thank you all for consistently showing up and watching, reading, listening to AAPI art. We do this for you.
Side note: this super suit is from the first movie. Cannot WAIT to reveal the fresh updated ones we got made for Shazam 2! Stay tuned."

AN UPGRADE FOR THE DC SEQUEL
With Zachary Levi's sequel currently so early into filming, it's tough to determine what kind of suit upgrades he and his Shazam family will get to don for the 2023 blockbuster sequel. But the hope is that these new costumes will help give them more protection and possibly a power boost considering the strength of the villains they'll have to face this time around.
Fans will be eager to find out more plot details as filming continues the next few months with an appropriately grand-scale adventure coming over the horizon for the young and powerful DC hero. For now, the mysteries continue to develop as theories form on what these new and improved costumes will look like on the big screen.
Shazam!: Fury of the Gods is currently filming and will debut in theaters on July 2, 2023.
