Black Panther 2 Will Make Chadwick Boseman Proud, Says Marvel Boss
Late last year, the world was shocked by the sudden loss of MCU star Chadwick Boseman. It was a cataclysmic event that affected people from around the globe. A hero and icon had been lost forever.
That's not to say he will be forgotten. Boseman's role as T'Challa meant the world to so many people, and his legacy will live on forever. Having had a role within the MCU, however, the show must go on—even without the man that led the charge in bringing Wakanda to life.
Back at Disney's Investor Meeting last December, Kevin Feige confirmed that the role of T'Challa would not be recast. With that decision, everyone at Marvel, including director Ryan Coogler, would be continuing the story of Wakanda.
As for what that exactly means, fans still don't know. Recently though, the official title of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was revealed. A title that suggests the focus will be mainly on the city of Wakanda and the people that embody everything that the fictional city stands for.
The wait for the film is difficult, but thankfully, it seems that production has officially gotten underway.
CHADWICK BOSEMAN WILL BE PROUD
At the Global Fan Event for Black Widow, via Variety, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige briefly touched upon the production for the upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. On top of confirming that production had begun, Feige made it clear that the process has been "very emotional without Chad:"
“It’s clearly very emotional without Chad...But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.”
No additional information on the plot for the film was available. Feige did not comment on what specific actors would be returning.
BLACK PANTHER 2 WILL ARRIVE
Out of the many Marvel projects coming out in the next few years, this film is likely one that will have plenty attention on it in a variety of different ways. It's something that Marvel boss clearly Kevin Feige knows, and he is surely acutely aware of the delicate situation that the next adventure to Wakanda finds itself in.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will no doubt be a thrilling ride. While the future of the Black Panther mantle is unclear, rumors are heavily pointing to the first appearance of Namor in the film—likely meaning that the film is set to focus on some sort of conflict between Atlantis and Wakanda.
A Cold War-type situation between warring nations would be a great angle for the movie to take, and if there are any two nations from the comics to have those spots, it's Atlantis and Wakanda. At the very least, there's next to no chance that there won't be some tension between the two nations.
If Marvel was feeling frisky, maybe they'd even add Doctor Doom's fictional nation Latveria to the mix, introducing the world to a properly adapted Victor Von Doom. Whether he will arrive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this movie is a mystery, but the day that happens will be glorious.
