Emilia Clarke Reveals Why She's So Eager For Star Wars Return

Emilia Clarke as Qi'ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story

As the credits rolled at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, many viewers sat in their seats shocked at what had just appeared on-screen.

In the film's final moments, Qi'ra, the female lead portrayed by Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, left the smuggler Han Solo stranded on the planet Savareen as she raced off into space on her way to the dismal planet Dathomir.

Qi'ra abandoned Han just minutes after the two were engaged in a vicious fight with the menacing Dryden Vos, played by Paul Bettany. After they defeated Vos, Qi'ra ordered Han to track down their former ally turned adversary, Tobias Beckett, who had Chewbacca held hostage along with the entire supply of coaxium that the crew stole from Kessel.

After Qi'ra had killed Dryden, she used his Crimson Dawn ring to contact the leader of the crime syndicate, who turned out to be the Dathomirian Zabrak, Darth Maul.

Solo was the first time that Maul appeared onscreen in live-action since his debut in The Phantom Menace in 1999. Many people sat in their seats wondering what the future of Qi'ra would be with Maul, especially since the movie left her character arc so open-ended.

With a high-caliber actress like Emilia Clarke playing the character of Qi'ra, rumors and speculation immediately began swirling about how many future projects she would be reprising her role in, but as time passed, those rumors slowly fizzled out.

Clarke has been known to publicly talk about her time with the character of Qi'ra and recently gave insight on why she would like to revisit the character.

EMILIA CLARKE DESIRES A STAR WARS RETURN

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Emilia Clarke sat down and mentioned that she had developed plans for the return of her character Qi'ra, saying that she "had pages" written about her future but that she's "heard nothing" from Disney :

"Oh, I know, and I agree. I really had pages about what her life was and what it would be afterwards. But I’m afraid I’ve heard nothing of [Disney+] being the case, so maybe I’ll just write it and send it to them. I’ll be like, “Hey guys, I’ve got a few ideas.”

Clarke also indicated that out of all her past roles, Qi'ra is the character whom she would most like to revisit due to her "unfinished business:"

"She’s the one that has the most unfinished business. So I would agree with that."

COULD QI'RA MAKE A STAR WARS COMEBACK?

If any actor or actress within the Star Wars universe deserves to have their character further explored, it is Emilia Clarke. In a film that wasn't too well-received by fans, people generally enjoyed her and the possibilities that could come from how the film ended.

Hearing her talk about how much she enjoyed her time on the set of Solo should be encouraging to both fans and executives. It is clear that if she "had pages about what her life was," she actually cared about the character and the direction that she would be heading in next.

Considering that Clarke's most famous character, Daenerys Targaryen, was so viciously hated in the final season of Game of Thrones, it is interesting to hear her say she would choose to further Qi'ra's story rather than fix Daenerys'. It truly proves to fans that she was devoted to her brief time in Star Wars, and with her playing a character as interesting as Qi'ra, it would almost be a crime to never bring her back onscreen.

Marvel Comics' War of the Bounty Hunters series revealed to readers that Qi'ra had risen to the top of Crimson Dawn. This revelation has left many questions as to how she got to that position, specifically what happened between her and Maul after she arrived to meet him on Dathomir after the events of Solo.

These questions could be perfectly answered in a Disney+ series centered around Qi'ra, with, of course, Emilia Clarke reprising her role and getting her wish granted to revisit the character.
