Hulk's Son To Appear In She-Hulk Disney+ Series (Exclusive)
The MCU's Disney+ shows have shaken up the traditional formula of the franchise so far, and She-Hulk is expected to be no different.
Being presented as a “half-hour legal comedy,” She-Hulk will see Tatiana Maslany suit up as Jennifer Walters in the courtroom and the titular hero for more super-heroic escapades. Filming has commenced for the series in Atlanta, Georgia, though plot details are relatively scarce aside from a potential Skrull appearance.
The show will bring back MCU veteran Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, in addition to Marvel newcomer and Hamilton star Renée Elise Goldsberry in an undisclosed role. Tim Roth was also confirmed to reprise his role as the Abomination, marking a grand return after being absent from the franchise since 2008's The Incredible Hulk.
Now it seems that another Hulk-like character will smash his way into the upcoming Disney+ series...
SHE-HULK SET TO INTRODUCE SKAAR
According to The Direct's sources, Skaar will appear in Marvel Studios' She-Hulk series. The character's rumored role in the show is unconfirmed by Disney and Marvel.
In the comics, Skaar is the son of Bruce Banner, conceived during the Hulk's tenure on Sakaar during the Planet Hulk storyline. He possessed very similar powers to his father, though also inherited abilities from his mother Caiera, a Sakaaran.
Being half-Oldstrong, Skaar was able to walk and talk mere moments after being born while also able to harness the power of the planet Sakaar itself. This allows him to achieve various tasks, including manipulating the planet's surface and its elements.
WILL BRUCE BANNER NOW HAVE TO PAY ALIMONY?
She-Hulk's introduction of Skaar to the MCU opens up a vast array of implications for the characters in the show as well as the universe as a whole.
Skaar's addition to the franchise brings another Hulk-related character to She-Hulk, joining Bruce Banner's Smart Hulk and the Abomination. This indicates that the show will be heavily reliant on Disney's ability to make CGI work for television. If Disney+'s track record is anything to go by though, Marvel Studios should be able to make the visual effects on par with, if not better than, what fans have seen in the MCU's Infinity Saga film offerings.
So how did Skaar come to be in the MCU? Looking at the comics, it is likely that Hulk's son was conceived sometime during the two and a half years between Age of Ultron and Thor: Ragnarok. It is unclear what Hulk got up to prior to Thor's crash landing on Sakaar, but a secret son certainly wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility.
Considering the fact that Skaar ages much quicker than a typical human in the comics and that the time jump between Infinity War and Endgame, there would be plenty of time for Bruce Banner's son to grow up and subsequently pay his old man a visit.
So what could Skaar want with his father? Considering that She-Hulk is a legal comedy, it is possible that Skaar and his mother could be looking to get something out of the Hulk. Could Bruce be forced to take legal custody over Skaar? Or will the scientist be forced to pay alimony for his negligence? Ultimately, Skaar's arrival could be a joyful reunion or a big shock for Hulk, and Jennifer Walters may have to use her skills as a lawyer to help her cousin out.
With Skaar being another young hero in the MCU, this could also signal a new member for the much-speculated and rumored project centered around the Young Avengers. Perhaps Skaar's inclusion in the show will be the first of many appearances to come.
She-Hulk is set to hit Disney+ in 2022.
