Justice League: New Concept Art of Bruce Wayne & Green Lantern Meeting Revealed
Nearly 90 days have passed since HBO Max hosted the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, bringing the DCEU director’s long-time vision for the team-up outing to life. Due to this new version of the 2017 theatrical flop being four hours long, coupled with Snyder’s willingness to take interviews regularly, news has been plentiful surrounding this popular streaming debut.
The most recent updates surrounding the Snyder Cut have included the likes of Aquaman star Jason Momoa giving his take on the outing and Snyder commenting on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wanting his Black Adam to join the Snyderverse in full.
Another major topic from this four-hour behemoth was the absence of Green Lantern, which Snyder publicly admitted wanting to include in the Snyder Cut. Warner Bros. reportedly nixed this idea, which would have brought the John Stewart version of the hero to the big screen for the first time.
In Snyder’s latest social media outing, he shared a peek of what this appearance would have looked like…
GREEN LANTERN SNYDER CUT TEASE
DCEU director Zack Snyder shared an image on Vero featuring concept art of Green Lantern's appearance in Zack Snyder's Justice League. The image shows John Stewart with a green hue surrounding him, floating above the lake beside Bruce Wayne's home:
The alternative to this scene that landed in the final cut of Zack Snyder's Justice League featured Martian Manhunter visiting Bruce Wayne in the same manner that Green Lantern would have:
GREEN LANTERNS LIGHT...EVENTUALLY?
The Green Lantern Corps found their way into Zack Snyder's Justice League in both the Darkseid flashback and the Knightmare sequence at the end of the film.
The classic character Kilowog made a fairly visible appearance during the flashback scene, although he was shown as dead in the Hall of Justice rubble. While the team hasn't had a ton of shine in the canon DCEU, this was Snyder's way of showcasing them as much as he could in the Snyder Cut.
While Harry Lennix's Martian Manhunter made waves with the character’s first live-action appearance, John Stewart has made similar headlines thanks to his no-show in the Snyder Cut. It’s unclear whether Warner Bros. has any definitive big-screen plans for the character, even with Green Lantern Corps coming to HBO Max, but this cameo would have helped bring the hero back to prominence regardless.
With nearly a dozen canon projects coming to theaters and HBO Max in the next few years, fans will be keeping an eye out for if and when the Green Lantern takes the DCEU spotlight once again. Green Lantern Corps should at least help in this endeavor, setting the stage for the team to take their place alongside the franchise’s classic heroes.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is available to stream on HBO Max.
