Loki: Disney+ Has Revealed the Names of [SPOILERS] From Episode 4 Post-Credits Scene
Warning - This article contains spoilers for the fourth episode of Loki, titled "The Nexus Event."
For quite some time, Loki has been rumored to have various incarnations of the God of Mischief appearing in his new Disney+ series. The most heavily rumored and speculated was Lady Loki, which proved to be correct as Sophia Di Martino confirmed she was playing a variation of Lady Loki in the show.
Another common rumor has been Kid Loki making his debut on the show, which was seemingly confirmed by actor Jack Veal who fit the initial casting profile for the character.
Richard E. Grant was even considered to be playing a Loki Variant once it was revealed that a stunt double for him was listed as "Classic Loki."
A crocodile might be involved, too, which itself has been proven to be shockingly relevant in the post-credit scene of the series' latest episode.
ENTER THE LOKI-VERSE
In the post-credit scene for Episode 4 of Loki, it was revealed that Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief was not killed by Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Renslayer but brought somewhere else.
Upon awakening, Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief is faced with three unfamiliar faces, but all of them distinctly Loki.
The credits for the episode helpfully specify the identities of each of these new Loki Variants.
It has now been confirmed that both Richard E. Grant and Jack Veal are playing Classic Loki and Kid Loki. The only surprise addition is DeObia Oparei playing a Variant called "Boastful Loki."
A VARIETY OF VARIANT VILLAINS
Fans actually saw four Variants of Loki in the post-credits scene, not just three, since that crocodile Jack Veal's Kid Loki is holding actually has its own horned helmet, implying that it is itself a Loki Variant. It would make sense since it was also leaked that Throg will appear in Loki.
One bigger mystery among them is Boastful Loki, who doesn't appear to have any comparable counterpart in the comics. However, they are seen wielding some variation of Mjolnir, so perhaps this is a Loki Variant that ended up being worthy instead of Chris Hemsworth's Thor.
DeObia Oparei certainly looks more like a warrior than a trickster, so perhaps he acts as the protector or muscle for the older and younger Loki Variants, just like he will for Hiddleston's Loki.
The next episode of Loki will stream on Disney+ on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.
