Loki: Episode 1 & 2 Runtimes Revealed For Disney+ Show
Following the rousing success of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios is ready to move on to its next Phase 4 entry on the small screen in the form of Loki.
Created by Michael Waldron and directed by Kate Herron, the upcoming MCU series will showcase the return of Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief, but with an added twist. This version of Thor's brother is a variant from an alternate 2012, the one who was introduced (and escaped) during the Time Heist of the Avengers during Avengers: Endgame.
Loki's freedom will be cut short by the arrival of the Time Variance Authority, otherwise known as the MCU's timekeepers. This organization is tasked to protect the sacred timeline, and it seems that the Asgardian's actions somehow broke reality.
The Disney+ series will explore this premise, and marketing has already revealed the fun dynamic of the titular trickster with his newfound allies (or enemies?). Now, as the premiere approaches, the runtimes of the first batch of episodes have been revealed.
LOKI'S LENGTHY RUNTIMES
DiscussingFilm's Diego Andaluz revealed the official runtimes of the first two episodes of Loki. Andaluz shared that the first episode has a runtime of 51 minutes while the second episode clocks in at 54 minutes.
A THRILLING FIRST TWO EPISODES FOR LOKI
The lengthy runtime of the first two episodes of Loki is understandable, considering that the show needs to give fans a background of how the Time Variance Authority works within the context of the MCU. On top of that, having an extensive runtime creates an opportunity for the series to do a deep dive into the journey of the titular character before the multiverse shenanigans he is currently in.
In comparison to WandaVision, the runtime of the first episode of Loki is similar to the show's finale, clocking in at 51 minutes. For context, WandaVision's finale is the show's longest episode.
Meanwhile, Loki and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are pretty much even in terms of runtimes. This makes sense since these two series didn't explore the sitcom format of the Elizabeth Olsen-led project.
Loki is filled with alternate realities, time travel, and the usual God of Mischief antics, and this reveal about the runtime should be exciting for fans who are eagerly anticipating the return of Tom Hiddleston's MCU character.
The first episode of Loki will premiere on Disney+ on June 9, 2021.
