Marvel's Kevin Feige Teases Unannounced MCU Characters For Avengers Campus
On June 2, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and several Marvel actors attended the opening ceremony of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort.
Unlike other superhero-inspired theme park lands, Avengers Campus is an MCU-inspired land with attractions and experiences dedicated to Marvel Studios library.
Along with Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum and the Pym Test Kitchen, much of the buzz from the ceremony centered on WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure ride featuring Tom Holland and the debut of Disney's Spider-Man "stuntronic."
And according to Kevin Feige, both he and Tom Holland literally "signed off" on this impressive addition to Avengers Campus while also teasing what's to come.
KEVIN FEIGE TALKS MORE ON AVENGERS CAMPUS
In the latest D23 Inside Disney podcast, both Kevin Feige and Disney Parks Chairman Josh D'Amaro discussed the Spider-Man stuntronic which is to become part of the land's live entertainment.
For reference, a stuntronic is Disney's acrobatic Spider-Man audio-animatronic that's launched into the air and simulates Spidey's moves.
In the podcast, Feige claimed that "you can't believe there's not a human in there" when it comes to seeing this robotic Spider-Man in action.
"It's something you've seen on a screen many times, but when you see it in real life? And again, being part of that process of just watching what the Imagineers did and refine it, you can't believe there's not a human in there. You can't believe how it moves so smoothly."
Now even though a stuntronic Spidey is what Marvel fans will see swinging over Avengers Campus, Tom Holland still found a way to leave his mark.
According to Feige,
"We went and visited one of the early stuntronic models, and Tom Holland and I signed them. So somewhere there's a stuntronic with our signatures on it. Maybe it's the one flying over us, I'm not sure."
Now it simply wouldn't be a Disney Park without characters. And at Avengers Campus, D'Amaro and Feige promised this land will be full of Marvel heroes and villains.
In fact, during the opening ceremony, members of the press and those watching from home saw Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, Black Widow, Ant-Man, The Wasp, Captain Marvel, and more.
And during an especially powerful moment, Anthony Mackie appeared introducing his Sam Wilson' Captain America as part of Avengers Campus.
But Wilson's Cap won't be the only new addition to the land for long. During the podcast, D'Amaro welcomed the opportunity to add even more of the MCU's roster of heroes to the land saying, "Kevin, as long as you keep making movies, we’ve got a place for them."
To which, Feige quickly confirmed that "they're already characters of films that people haven't seen yet waiting to step around these corners of Avengers Campus."
A HOME FOR ALL MARVEL CHARACTERS
For Marvel fans, Avengers Campus is truly unique in that Marvel Studios views the land as a place to connect their fans with their characters and movies.
In fact, during the opening ceremony, Feige claimed that Avengers Campus will only grow with the MCU saying fans can "watch one of our shows on Disney+" and "you'll see something from that show right here..."
The fact new characters that fans have yet to see are just waiting to be introduced into the land is exciting, especially considering the number of films and Disney+ series that Marvel Studios has in the works.
Perhaps fans might see new characters from Loki appear in the coming weeks? Or possibly Shang-Chi and the Eternals by the end of the year?
So far, 2021 is shaping up to be an incredible year for Marvel fans, and Avengers Campus just might become the best place to be a Marvel fan.
