Obi-Wan Kenobi: Set Photos Show Ewan McGregor's Jedi, Stormtrooper & More Star Wars Characters

Star Wars legacy characters are getting a new lease of life on Disney+.

Boba Fett and Ahsoka Tano had the chance to return in second season of The Mandalorian, which resulted in both fan-favorite characters getting their own solo shows. While those characters had the chance to reappear before getting spun-off, one beloved Jedi getting his own series that fans haven't seen since 2005 is Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Fans have been hoping for years to learn more about the Jedi Master's backstory after Episode III. Rumors of a Kenobi show have rumbled for years, but Disney finally answered those prayers with an official announcement of the Obi-Wan Kenobi prequel coming to Disney+.

Obi-Wan won't be the only familiar face returning in this prequel series, as Hayden Christensen is confirmed to come back as Darth Vader, although the appearance of Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn is still in doubt

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has started filming and photos are already coming out of the set.

EWAN MCGREGOR SPOTTED ON OBI-WAN SET

Some of the first pictures snapped from the Obi-Wan Kenobi set, courtesy of Just Jared, show Ewan McGregor walking around masked up, wearing a black robe to cover up his costume.

Other images show another actor, potentially McGregor's stunt double, in similar Jedi attire.

Stormtroopers and Imperial officers have also been spotted in costume on the Star Wars production.

HELLO THERE, OBI-WAN KENOBI

While the Obi-Wan Kenobi release date is still a ways off, it's hard not to get excited seeing Ewan McGregor back in Jedi robes.

The actor previously shared he was nostalgic when he saw his old Jedi costume again and this is the first shot of him back in it. Earlier in the year, the actor also showed he was growing out his facial hair to match the iconic look of Obi-Wan from the prequel trilogy, but McGregor's beard status is hard to tell considering the facemask he's donning in these photos.

These set photos also confirm that Imperial officers and Stormtroopers will be appearing in the series. This doesn't come as a surprise, seeing as the Obi-Wan series is set after the events of Revenge of the Sith, where the Galactic Empire began establishing its power across the galaxy. McGregor recently shared his excitement to be working with real Stormtroopers for the first time, noting that he has only spent time with mostly-CGI Clone Troopers in the prequels.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently without a release date, but is expected to stream on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
