Warning: This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 9.

Lucasfilm Animation's new series and The Clone Wars spin-off Star Wars: The Bad Batch is now nine episodes into its sixteen-episode run, and it just dropped a huge reveal about the Fett family.

The series kicked off on May the 4th with experimental Clone Force 99 dealing with the fallout of Order 66, the rise of the Empire, and life after the war with young, female clone Omega in their care.

However, the Empire, which now includes their brother Crosshair, isn't their only problem.

The Kaminoans want Omega back and have dispatched bounty hunters Fennec Shand and Cad Bane to retrieve her; in the latest episode, fans finally know why and how it connects to a Star Wars film from 2002.

OMEGA IS A BOBA FETT'S SISTER

In Episode 9, titled "Bounty Lost," Omega attempts to escape from bounty hunter Cad Bane, with Clone Force 99 in pursuit and asking questions. Tech, as usual, has the answers, revealing the truth behind Omega's identity and why she's so valuable to the Kaminoans.

After examining Omega's genetic profile, Tech says Omega has "pure, first-generation DNA" and is "a pure genetic replication" of Jango Fett.

In 2002's Attack of the Clones, fans discover that iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett — who was first introduced in the original trilogy's The Empire Strikes Back — was a clone of his father, Jango Fett

Jango served as the genetic template for the Republic's clone army created by the Kaminoans; in exchange for using his DNA, Jango requested a clone that wasn't modified who he raised as his son. That, of course, was Boba.

Tech actually confirms this information but further reveals that Boba wasn't the only clone created without modifications. Omega was as well.

And since Boba's status and location is unknown at this point in the Star Wars timeline, "Omega is the sole living source of [Jango] Fett's raw genetic material."

Earlier episodes of The Bad Batch have shown that the Kaminoans are fearful of their cloning operation becoming obsolete due to the Empire's belief that recruits are better than clones.

In order to maintain their relevance, the Kaminoans need Jango's genetic material and, therefore, Omega.

OMEGA FETT IN THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT?

Omega's identity is a huge reveal as it adds another layer to the prequel film Attack of the Clones and the history of the clones themselves.

But perhaps even more so, it serves as a connection to Boba Fett, who recently appeared in Season 2 of The Mandalorian and has his own Disney+ series set to release this December — The Book of Boba Fett.

But this isn't the first time The Bad Batch has established a tie to the iconic bounty hunter. In addition to Fennec Shand, who appeared alongside Boba in The Mandalorian and is part of the cast for the upcoming series, Dave Filoni claims that Cad Bane was who he planned to be responsible for that dent in the hunter's Mandalorian helmet.

Does this mean that The Bad Batch is laying the groundwork for what fans will see later this year? And could we see a live-action Omega in the future? Only time will tell.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch airs on Fridays on Disney+.
