Boba Fett's Director Team Reportedly Adds Avengers: Endgame Stunt Coordinator
While fans of The Mandalorian may be waiting a while for Season 3, the first spinoff series, The Book of Boba Fett, is fast approaching. Following Temeura Morrison's eponymous bounty hunter, the show promises fans a glimpse into what the son of Jango Fett has been up to since his near-death in Return of the Jedi.
Since filming has wrapped on the project and the December 2021 release date draws near, more details have been emerging about the series. Besides the stellar cast led by Morrison as Fett and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, a number of skilled directors are stepping up to lend their expertise to the show. Mandalorian fans will be glad to know that directors from that series like Robert Rodriguez, Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, and Bryce Dallas Howard will be returning for the spin-off.
A new report adds another name to the list of talent behind The Book of Boba Fett as well.
AVENGERS STUNT COORDINATOR TO DIRECT
According to The Ronin, an MCU veteran will be joining the pool of directors for The Book of Boba Fett. Sam Hargrave, who recently directed Netflix film Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth, has reportedly directed at least one episode for the series.
Hargrave is also known for coordinating stunts for Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Captain America: Civil War and working as a second unit director on The Mandalorian Season 2.
STAR WARS EXPANDING ITS TEAM OF TALENT
Thus far, The Mandalorian's strategy of alternating directors for various episodes has led to a great sense of variety in the show's content, and it seems with Hargrave's addition to the pool that Lucasfilm intends to double down on the practice.
It's easy to see why they'd continue to do it, as The Mandalorian has been wildly successful on Disney+ and has in many ways reinvigorated interest in Star Wars as a franchise after mixed reactions to The Rise of Skywalker. As spin-off series like The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka begin to debut, it's critical that this success continues. Disney has promised that The Mandalorian and its family of shows will lead to a grand storytelling convergence, likely involving beloved Star Wars villain Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Perhaps equally interesting to note is that there is continuing cross-pollination from the MCU into Lucasfilm projects so far as production teams are concerned. While Hargrave worked on stunts in the Marvel films, he has also proven that he is capable working in the galaxy far, far away as seen through his work for the second season of The Mandalorian. If his work on The Book of Boba Fett is well-received as well, it may see him direct further content for Lucasfilm.
Remember that Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian's creator, previously helped with the Iron Man, Avengers, and Spider-Man franchises, and now not only is an executive producer and director for The Book of Boba Fett, but is working on many of the other Star Wars projects currently in development at Lucasfilm.
The galaxy's most infamous bounty hunter will return to rule crime on Tatooine when The Book of Boba Fett debuts in December 2021, only on Disney+.
