Brooklyn Nine-Nine Teaser Pokes Fun at Spider-Man 3: No Way Home's Trailer Excitement

Brooklyn Nine Nine Spiderman Far From Home

Marvel Studios is only a few weeks away from getting back into action with What If...? on Disney+, which precedes six five other projects before the end of the year. This also means that MCU fans are anxiously waiting for trailers for these shows and movies, two of which still have yet to debut their first footage and one in Ms. Marvel that's only shown off a few seconds of action.

In this group of movies and shows that are coming in 2021, nothing has built up a level of hype or anticipation like that of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

With under five months until Tom Holland's third solo movie arrives in theaters, fans are eager to see even a glimpse at what the web-slinger is up against as he teams up with Doctor Strange. With enough villains to fill a Sinister Six roster and the start of the multiverse tearing apart, this movie's first trailer is garnering more discussions than any MCU movie since Avengers: Endgame.

The wait for Spider-Man: No Way Home's first trailer has become an event in and of itself, leading major players in the entertainment industry to take advantage of the unique situation. This is the case once again thanks to a teaser trailer for the final season of a fan-favorite comedy series coming this summer.

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE MEETS SPIDER-MAN

In a post on Twitter, NBC has released a 13-second teaser in anticipation of a full trailer for Season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which will debut on August 12, 2021.

A Marvel Studios-inspired intro showed clips of Andy Samberg's Jake Peralta, Andre Braugher's Captain Raymond Holt, and more before displaying the Nine-Nine title card. The tweet also included the message "Heard you all were asking for a trailer?," poking fun at the wait for the first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer.

NOICE! SMORT!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has utilized Marvel's work on numerous occasions over the last eight years in its time on Fox and NBC. This was especially seen in Episode 11 of Season 7, in which the team's annual Halloween Heist utilized a replica of Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet as the MacGuffin the squad fought for in pursuit of the title of "Amazing Human/Genius."

Considering how big the lack of a Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has become over the last few weeks, it seems only right that this widely popular comedy would use this for its own brand of humor.

It remains to be seen whether Nine-Nine will use any Marvel or MCU references in its final season, but this teaser captured Marvel Studios' essence while getting fans hyped for the show's return. This short video also continues to highlight the excruciating wait for Marvel Studios' last movie of 2021, leaving fans to keep counting the days until its own trailer finally debuts.

Filming for Spider-Man: No Way Home was rumored to have finished in Spring 2021, leaving Sony and Marvel with the difficult task of picking out the best scenes to include in a trailer. The studios likely won't be prodded into anything by shots like the one Nine-Nine took, but it will heighten fans' radars as the wait continues for the first look at the threequel.

Season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will begin on August 12, 2021, on NBC. Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to debut in theaters on December 17, 2021.
