Hawkeye Star Reveals Exactly How Old Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop Will Be In the MCU
It may be four months away, but hype is escalating for the Hawkeye Disney+ series.
The show is set to introduce Hailee Steinfeld as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Kate Bishop, a wildly popular and charismatic mentee of Clint Barton's in the comics. Bishop's inclusion alone has had anticipation high, but the surge of fellow Young Avengers debuting across previous Disney+ Marvel shows has put all eyes on the young archer.
Even though she is a high-ranking member of the squad in the comics, Bishop is years away from reaching leadership maturity levels.
In a recent interview, Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner revealed exactly how old Kate Bishop is in their series.
KATE BISHOP'S AGE REVEALED
The future Young Avenger is coming into the MCU with one-half of that title complete.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner said tjay Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop will be "22 years old" when she arrives in the series:
"[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid, and she's a big Hawkeye fan. She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she's such a fangirl of Hawkeye. The relationship grows from that, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life."
DAD MODE HAWKEYE RETURNS
In a cinematic universe full of questionable father figures, Clint Barton stands out in a good way.
After a debut that left a lot to be desired, Jeremy Renner introduced fans to Hawkeye's family in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron. The dad vibes extended beyond blood, however, as Barton mentors a young and scared Wanda Maximoff in the same movie.
While he has been looking to hang up the bow and arrow for years and embrace his role as a father full-time, Clint will have to balance both this fall.
Bishop's eagerness to learn from Hawkeye will undoubtedly "annoy" the semi-retired Avenger, but that desire to be like her hero is where the "equally charming manner" comes in.
Being 22 years old puts Kate right out of her college years if the character does follow her boarding school roots from the comics. Putting her at one of her first years of adulthood allows Kate Bishop to come off as a grown-up while also retaining much of the adolescent immaturity from her youth.
Fans will learn all about Kate Bishop and the "onslaught of problems" she brings into Clint Barton's life when Hawkeye begins streaming November 24, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
