Marvel Boss Plays Coy on Florence Pugh’s Role In Hawkeye Disney+ Show

Yelena, Florence Pugh Hawkeye Warning - This article contains spoilers for Black Widow.

Fans are still reeling from the Loki finale, where the show set up the next decade of MCU storytelling. It was a lot to take in, especially on top of the show's hope-draining cliffhanger.

With Marvel's third Disney+ show complete, what's next for MCU fans? Well, there's the upcoming What If...? In August on Disney+, and then Shang-Chi after that. But there's one particular Disney+ show that fans are likely pining for more information: Hawkeye.

But why? Well, because the recently released Black Widow film teased an upcoming showdown between Yelena Belova and Clint Barton––something that directly sets up Hawkeye. This will also likely be Florence Pugh's next appearance in the MCU.

But when it comes to Yelena's future, what will it look like? Kevin Feige was recently on the D23 Inside Disney Podcast where he teased more information on the matter.

YELENA'S FUTURE

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige sat down with the official D23 Inside Disney Podcast to discuss all things Black Widow and Marvel. During this char, the topic of Florence Pugh's Yelena came up. A character who, in the post-credits scene of Black Widow, got a new mission: kill Clint Barton.

So what will Yelena's future look like in the Hawkeye show? While he didn't give any specifics, Feige did tease "that Florence will have future appearances in the MCU:"

"...I will say that it's our great hope...as I said before with Rachel [Weisz] and David Harbour, that Florence will have future appearances in the MCU. Where and when will be up for the viewers to see, when it happens."

YELENA IS IN HAWKEYE

It's a little silly that not only is Kevin Feige playing so coy, but also that the question was even asked in the first place. Yelena's appearance in Hawkeye is now confirmed, which is something that has been announced for quite some time now and was made even clearer after Black Widow's post-credits scene.

What there is to take away from Kevin Feige's quotes, as obvious as it may seem to many, is that Florence Pugh is set for future appearances––notice that's plural. This is great, because it would surely be a waste of both the character and Pugh's talents if her last role in the MCU was in Hawkeye.

As for when fans will be able to see Hawkeye on Disney+, that information is still unknown. Supposedly, the show is still set for a 2021 release date. So it's only a matter of time before fans get the Yelena vs. Hawkeye showdown that Black Widow has now teased.
