Marvel's Shang-Chi: 5 New Images Tease Enemies & Allies In MCU Movie
2021 is already jam-packed with content from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After Disney+ releases like WandaVision and Loki followed by the theatrical premiere of Black Widow, fans will soon get the chance to know the franchise's newest hero, Shang-Chi. This hero will be portrayed by actor Simu Liu in the upcoming film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Despite the buzz that both Loki and Black Widow are creating, Marvel Studios has been dedicating a significant amount of time to promoting Shang-Chi.
Less than two weeks ago, a new trailer for the film was released on ESPN prior to Game 3 of the NBA's Western Conference Finals. The trailer teased viewers with glimpses of Liu displaying his incredible martial arts skills, along with a couple of shocking reveals that include the character Abomination from The Incredible Hulk as well as the sorcerer Wong.
Many fans are still eager to see more from the film, particularly about the father-son relationship between The Mandarin and Shang-Chi.
Fortunately, a fresh batch of stills has recently been released with multiple photos that can most definitely spark discussion about the movie.
NEW SHANG-CHI IMAGES REVEAL ALLIES & ENEMIES
In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, five new images have been revealed, giving fans a new look at different characters in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, from alliances to adversaries.
The first image from the new batch of stills shows actors Awkwafina, Ronny Chieng, and Simu Liu in their roles as Katy, Jon Jon, and Shang-Chi. The trio of characters are a group of friends in the film, and in the photo, the three can be seen displaying different reactions to some sort of event.
The next image shows a close-up shot of Meng'er Zhang, portraying the character Xialing, Shang-Chi's sister. Xialing is given the choice in the movie to help her brother or continue to live her life in solitude, where she ultimately chooses to aid Shang-Chi.
Here, Florian Munteanu is seen playing his character Razor Fist, an enemy of Shang-Chi who can be seen in action in the latest trailer.
In this image, a young Shang-Chi is seen training in front of his father, Wenwu, portrayed by Tony Leung, alongside the villain Death Dealer. This still is from a scene that will likely be a flashback from the point of Shang-Chi and will provide insight on his hardships while growing up.
In the final image from the batch of photos, Katy and Shang-Chi can be seen once again, except this time in full valet service attire. Viewers were given a glimpse of this scene in the recent trailer.
FRIENDS AND FOES IN NEW IMAGES
This new release of official images from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is enough to get fans excited for the upcoming movie.
With the film releasing in just under two months, Marvel Studios is doing an incredible job at marketing. The release of the trailer two weeks ago could not have come at a more perfect time, and now these new images are providing fans with even more content to talk about.
It will be very interesting to see the relationship that, in particular, Katy and Shang-Chi have with one another as they are close friends. In the two stills that both characters appeared in, it is clear that they will spend a significant amount of time together in the movie.
It's also great to get a close look at Razor Fist in these new pictures. The shots of him in the trailer were magnificent, especially when he was in action. Combining his fighting style with Simu Liu's martial arts, fans are in for a treat when they face off in Shang-Chi.
However, the most interesting image that was revealed is from the flashback scene of a young Shang-Chi training in front of his father, Wenwu, and Death Dealer. With Wenwu, also known as The Mandarin, being the leader of the terrorist organization known as the Ten Rings, it will be very interesting to see Shang-Chi relive the harder moments of his early past trying to please his villainous father.
The other two stills of Xialing, Shang-Chi's estranged sister, and then Shang-Chi and Katy in the valet scene offer terrific additional looks at the three characters.
September simply can not come quickly enough, and hopefully, as the film gets closer to its release date, Marvel Studios will grace fans with even more content from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
