MCU Star Reveals Kid Loki Has Spent an Extreme Amount of Time In The Void
Marvel Studios is taking some major steps forward in terms of developing the MCU's overarching narrative through its new ventures on Disney+, which has largely been fueled by Tom Hiddleston's Loki.
This six-episode run took fans on a wild ride through the vast reaches of time and space as the God of Mischief found a new purpose in life after stealing the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. It ended with the start of chaos throughout the multiverse thanks to Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie killing He Who Remains, presumed to be a Variant of Kang the Conqueror.
This show also introduced new Variants of Loki himself such as potential Young Avengers member Kid Loki played by Jack Veal. Despite his youthful appearance, Richard E. Grant's Classic Loki made it clear to Tom Hiddleston's lead hero "to respect the boy" as the ruler of The Void, which seemed to track after Kid Loki boasted about killing his universe's Thor.
As for Kid Loki earning his top-dog status at the end of time, Veal himself gave some insight into how this came to be, timeline included.
KID LOKI - MORE THAN A KID
ComicBookMovie spoke with Kid Loki actor Jack Veal about the character's story in Marvel Studios' Loki, specifically how this Variant kept his youthful appearance.
Veal revealed Kid Loki to be "the oldest one in The Void" after being "pruned thousands of years" before he first appears in Episodes 4 and 5. He continued to divulge that this version of Loki never ages since The Void exists at "the end of time."
Kid Loki is also known as "the most intimidating" Loki according to Veal, who said that his character did something that "no other Loki would even dare try or even do" by killing Thor:
"Many people don't know this, but Kid Loki is the oldest one in The Void. He was pruned thousands of years before and just didn't age because of The Void being the end of time as said by Judge Renslayer. It is also the sheer fact that he killed Thor. As I said, no other Loki would dare try or even do that successfully. That not only makes him the Oldest but the most intimidating as well."
THE TOP-DOG OF LOKIS
With four different Loki Variants that contrasted from each other so drastically, there was an initial shock that came when Kid Loki revealed himself as the ruler of The Void. It appears that killing the God of Thunder was a bold move even for the other Loki Variants at the end of time, showing that age is irrelevant with a will that strong.
In the Disney+ series, Tom Hiddleston's core Loki was revealed to be 1048 years old. Veal's statement that Kid Loki was pruned millennia ago means that his version of the character certainly has more than a fair share of experience in The Void by calling it home for longer than any of his companions.
Now that Veal is the only human Variant of Loki that's confirmed to be alive at the end of Episode 5, his future remains uncertain with the multiverse starting to break into madness. He's classically been used as a member of the Young Avengers, which the MCU is clearly building toward, although it remains to be seen if his youthful looks will keep upon exiting The Void.
Should his story continue, fans will certainly want to find out exactly how long Kid Loki has not only called The Void home but ruled it as well. With the MCU exploring the multiverse so heavily over the next few years, this will hopefully be included as an individual journey in the expanding narrative.
All six episodes of Loki are available to stream on Disney+.
