Spider-Man: Zendaya Questions Her Future In the Marvel Cinematic Universe

While Marvel Studios is taking no days off this year due to multiple Disney+ series and a full theatrical slate, it's possible that the biggest and most-anticipated project of 2021 will be Spider-Man: No Way Home

While it's expected that Peter Parker will be dealing with the loss of his secret identity in December's No Way Home, rumors of multiversal villains and the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spidermen have contributed to the ever-building hype.

But while fans continue to question just when the first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home will drop, Spider-Man actress Zendaya is questioning whether the film is her last within the MCU.

ZENDAYA COMMENTS ON SPIDER-MAN'S UNCERTAIN FUTURE

In an interview for E!'s Daily Pop, Zendaya reflected on her Marvel journey thus far and her uncertain future within the MCU saying, "We were all just absorbing and taking the time to just enjoy the moment, being with each other and being so grateful for that experience."

Zendaya has been playing Peter Parker's classmate and now love interest since 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. It's an experience that she's shared along with Tom Holland and Jacob Batalon.

In regard to sharing filming three films over a five-year span with the two actors, Zendaya shared, "it's pretty special to have grown up all together."

But with Spider-Man: No Way Home now completing a trilogy, it's uncertain whether the three stars' time together in the MCU has come to an end.

According to the actress, "it was so much fun" shooting the third chapter of Marvel's Spidey franchise. However, it was also "kind of bittersweet" since there's no answer whether "we're gonna do another one."

Zendaya continued to comment on the uncertainty further saying, "Is it just gonna be three and done? Like, kind of normally you do three movies and that's pretty much it."

Regardless, the significance of being part of a Spider-Man project and possibly beyond isn't lost on the actress. Having referenced that "there's been so many different Spideys before us," it's of the utmost importance that they're "making everybody proud."

SPIDER-MAN NO MORE?

Unlike other MCU characters and films, Spider-Man is different. Not only is he one of the most popular and revered comic book heroes, but Marvel Studios also shares the web-slinger with Sony Pictures.

Therefore, what comes next for Tom Holland's Peter Parker and his friends isn't entirely up to Marvel.

But regardless of what the future holds for Holland's run as Spidey, fans should be glad to hear that members of the cast like Zendaya appreciate the films and are dedicated to making fans proud.

However, even if No Way Home is the end for Holland's Parker and Zendaya's MJ, the same can't be said for the actors in real life. This is due to the fact that the duo's relationship recently went public courtesy of paparazzi-style reporting J. Jonah Jameson would've been proud of.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to debut in theaters on December 17, 2021.
